NTC grants other ABS-CBN frequencies to Quiboloy’s SMNI, Cabangon-Chua’s Aliw Broadcasting Corporation

Naipamahagi na rin ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ang iba pang broadcast frequencies na dating hawak ng ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation.

Ito ay matapos maigawad ng NTC ang main frequencies ng Channel 2 at DZMM sa Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) na pagmamay-ari ng bilyonaryo at dating senador na si Manny Villar.

Sa ulat ng Bilyonaryo.com ngayong Miyerkules, January 26, 2022, sinabi ritong ang Channel 23, na dating Studio 23 at Sports+Action (S+A) ng ABS-CBN, ay naibigay sa Aliw Broadcasting Corporation.

Ang Aliw Broadcasting Corporation ay pagmamay-ari ng namayapang negosyanteng si Antonio Cabangon-Chua na nagpapatakbo ng DWIZ at Home Radio gayundin ng Philippine Business Daily Mirror.

Nabili rin ni Cabangon-Chua ang stake o share ni Wilson Tieng sa RPN-9, ang tahanan ng CNN Philippines.

Naibigay naman ng NTC ang Channel 43 sa Sonshine Media Network Inc. (SMNI), kumpanyang pagmamay-ari ni Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Ang Channel 43, ayon pa sa ulat, ay kontrolado ng AMCARA Broadcasting Network na nagpapatakbo ng digital channel ng ABS-CBN, kilala sa tawag na Black Box o ABS-CBN TV Plus.

Si Quiboloy rin ang may-ari ng UHF Channel 40 kung saan ipinapalabas ang mga programa ng kanyang religious group na Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Si Quiboloy, na nahaharap sa kasong sex trafficking sa U.S., ay kilalang malapit na kaibigan at spiritual adviser ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

May basbas ng Department of Justice at Office of the Executive Secretary ang nasabing hakbang ng NTC para ipamahagi ang hindi ginagamit na frequencies sa pamamagitan ng Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) or Provisional Authority (PA) dahil sa pagkapaso ng prangkisa ng ABS-CBN noong May 4, 2020.

Ayon pa sa pahayag ng NTC na lumabas sa News5: “These are very old applications na natengga because of the IRR ng digital TV. Nagkaroon lang ng availability because of the recall [of ABS-CBN frequencies].”

Noong July 10, 2020 ay ibinasura ng Kongreso ang franchise renewal application ng ABS-CBN.

Kabilang sa 70 kongresista na bumoto para sa pagbasura ng franchise renewal ng ABS-CBN ay si Camille Villar, anak ni Manny Villar.
