Aminado si Karen Davila na mahirap na araw para sa ABS-CBN kahapon, January 26, 2022.

Hindi man niya tuwirang sinabi kung ano ang sanhi ng “another tough day” para sa Kapamilya network, mahihinuhang may kinalaman ito sa malaking balita tungkol sa pamamahagi ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) sa mga broadcast frequencies na dating hawak ng ABS-CBN Corporation.

Kabilang na rito ang paggawad ng NTC sa Channel 2 frequency sa Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) na pagmamay-ari ng bilyonaryo at dating senador na si Manny Villar.

Bukod sa Channel 2, kasamang ibinigay ng NTC sa AMBS ang analog channel sa Mega Manila na Channel 16.

Dagdag pa rito, ibinigay rin ng NTC ang Channel 23—na dating Studio 23 at Sports+Action (S+A) ng ABS-CBN—sa Aliw Broadcasting Corporation.

Naibigay naman ng NTC ang Channel 43 sa Sonshine Media Network Inc. (SMNI), kumpanyang pagmamay-ari ni Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Kahapon, nag-post si Karen sa Instagram ng larawan nila ng kanyang TV Patrol co-anchor niyang si Bernadette Sembrano kung saan pareho silang naka-blue na damit.

Sabi ni Karen, kahit pareho silang naka-blue ay hindi naman sila malungkot.

Bagamat mahirap para sa kanyang network ang araw kahapon, hindi naman daw sila nawawalan ng pag-asa.

Saad niya, “Promise… hindi talaga kami nag-usap! [laughing emoji] Ngayon naman, different shades of blue… pero neither of us feels bluer than blue [blue heart emoji]

“Today was another tough day for ABSCBN but we choose not to lose hope.

"Optimism takes faith and hope gives your heart peace [praying hands emoji]”



Nawalan ng prangkisa para sa free-to-air broadcast ang ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation noong May 4, 2020.

Nagpaalam sa ere ang network gabi ng May 5, 2020.

July 10, 2020, tuluyang pinatay sa Kongreso ang franchise application ng Kapamilya network.

Isa sa mga bumoto para sa pagbasura ng ABS-CBN franchise renewal ay si Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar, anak ni Manny Villar na nagmamay-ari na ngayon ng frequencies na dating ginagamit ng Kapamilya network.

Ang isa pang ginawaran ng NTC ng dating ABS-CBN frequencies ay ang pag-aaring kompanya ni Apollo Quiboloy, na malapit na kaibigan at spiritual adviser ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Bago ang pagpatay ng Kongreso sa franchise renewal application ng ABS-CBN, makailang ulit sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na haharangin niya ang anumang hakbang na magbibigay muli ng prangkisa sa dating giant network.
