Ogie Alcasid and Ramiele Malubay (right), despite having problems with their voices, managed to entertain the large audience who watched the two-night Ogie Sings With The Idols concert in Aliw Theater. Ogie performed with Ramiele and the Pinoy Idol champion Gretchen Espina (left) and the Pinoy Idol finalists.

Successful ang two-night concert ni Ogie Alcasid—Ogie Sings With The Idols—together with American Idol finalist Ramiele Malubay, Pinoy Idol winner Gretchen Espina and the Pinoy Idol finalists, titled .

MENAYA OPENING. The concert was opened by the indie band Menaya na contract band ng IMusic label. The driving force behind the band, frontman Brian Sombero, aside from being a close family friend of Ogie's, was also one of the producers of Ogie's concert.

Magaling ang chill-out, new wave and pop rock foundation ng musika ng banda. Technically, the band knew how to gel these different music genres together for a groovy but easy-listening music with their excellent use of space echo and delay guitar effects. The band warmed up the audience with their songs, "Happiness," "Everytime," "Idiom," "Bakit Kailangan," and the first single from their The Worst News album, "Safer."

HERE'S "RENALDO." After Menaya, Ogie's accompanying band and backup singers set themselves up while a montage of "Idol auditions" featuring Diego and Babagee of Bubble Gang, the Pinoy Idol finalists, and Ogie's Bubble Gang character Angelica appeared on the big screen mounted above the stage.

The video ended with Ogie dressed as American Idol star reject Renaldo Lapuz singing Renaldo's "hit" song "We're Brothers Forever." Nagulat na lang ang audience nang mula sa likuran ay lumabas ang isang marching band with Ogie continuing the song from the video.

Tinuloy ni Ogie at tinapos ang "We're Brothers Forever" sa stage with the FEU Marching Band, a la Renaldo in the Season 7 finals ng American Idol, minus nga lang ang judges na sina Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson na nagsasayaw.

As the marching band exited, unti-unting hinuhubad ni Ogie ang kanyang Renaldo costume habang pumapasok naman ang kanyang all-female back-up dancers in their gold sequened dresses.

Ogie then performed a medley of songs by Lionel Richie, DeBarge, and Kool and the Gang na ikinasayaw ng ilang members of the audience habang nagwawagayway naman ng mga kamay nila ang iba.

After the medley, kinanta ni Ogie ang kanyang hit song na "Nandito Ako" na inareglo sa reggae tempo.

MORNING MIRACLE. Before going to his next song, ikinuwento ni Ogie na days before the concert, nagkaroon siya ng problema sa kanyang boses dahil na rin sa klima ngayon. In fact, noong umaga nga raw before the second night of his concert, gumising siyang walang boses.

ENTER THE "IDOL" GIRLS. After this number, in-introduce na ni Ogie ang Pinoy Idol Girls—Jayann Bautista, Jenni Rawole, May Flores, Penelope, Sue Ellen Cubing, and Gretchen. They sang a medley of songs by the Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, and The Ting Tings. Gretchen later stayed behind to sing Alicia Keys's "If I Ain't Got You."

Maganda ang pagkakakanta ng audience member who turned out to be a friend of Ogie and one of the concert producers named Wally Sombero.

After the song, nagbiruan pa sa stage sina Ogie at Ramiele, with Ogie telling Ramiele how much he enjoyed performing with her. Ramiele is believed to stand only 4'11".

Kinanta ni Ramiele ang mga awitin ng Filipino idols niyang sina Lani Misalucha ("Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin") at Regine Velasquez ("You Are My Song" and "Dadalhin"). Tinapos niya ang medley with her American Idol piece na "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me," originally by Dusty Springfield.

Walking around the stage, panay ang sabi ni Ramiele ng, "Ang haba!" referring to the skirt of her long dress na lumalampaso na sa sahig ng stage. She ended her set with Bing Crosby's "I'll Be Home For Christmas," habang pinapakita sa mounted big screen ang video ng kanyang trip sa Polillo Island in Quezon Province. Ramiele's father Roger Malubay is from Polillo.

THE "IDOL" BOYS. Ramiele later introduced the Pinoy Idol boys led by Ram Chavez singing American Idol season 5 finalist Chris Daughtry's "Home." He was joined later by other Pinoy Idol boys with rock influences, Warren Antig and Toffer Rei .

Sumunod sa kanila ang tatlo pang Pinoy Idol boys na sina Kid Camaya, Robbie Navarro at Daryl Celis singing RnB star Chris Brown's "With You." Tinapos nila ang medley with all the six boys doing a rock version of Justin Timberlake and Madonna's "4 Minutes."

Pagkatapos nito ay muling bumalik onstage ang tatlo pang Idol girls na sina Gretchen, Penelope at Jayann para umawit with the Idol boys Robby, Kid and Daryl. They sang Ogie and Regine's hit duets "Hanggang Ngayon," "Sa Piling Mo," and "Paano Kita Iibigin."

Menaya's Brian Sombero joined them singing The Dawn's "Iisang Bangka."

DIO MARCO.

Dio Marco entered the stage singing the classical Italian aria by Giacomo Puccini titled "Nessun Dorma" from the opera Turandot.

After singing the religious song "Thankful" by Josh Groban, the concert ended with the whole Pinoy Idol lineup, Ramiele and Ogie singing a disco and Manila Sound medley na muling ikinasayaw ng audience.

POST CONCERT. Backstage after the concert, PEP had the chance to talk to Ramiele and Ogie.

"I think it's going around. Like me, for example, two days ago, wala akong boses. May ubo pa. So it's just a miracle na talagang nakakanta pa kami," Ramiele said habang napapansin naming ilan nga sa Pinoy Idols ang umuubo ng konti.

Ramiele mentioned she'll be staying in the Philippines for three months (which started this December), at pag-aaralan ang offers sa kanya for record deals and a possible career in the Philippines.

"Kung mapapansin n'yo nga, nung mga early part of the concert, medyo nahihirapan akong kumanta. I trust in You, I believe in You,' so... talagang milagro lang ng Panginoon kaya ako nakakakanta ngayon," patotoo pa ni Ogie.

In an earlier PEP interview, Ogie said he will be spending Christmas with his kids in Australia while Regine will stay here for some shows. Magkakasama naman silang muli at magse-celebrate sa darating na New Year.

Ogie Sings With Idols was produced by the new production company The UnderGround Studio Inc.
