Few hours ago, we bid goodbye to the year 2008, which has become very controversial, and eventful as well, for the showbiz industry.

Before welcoming the Year of the Ox, however, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked some of our local celebrities to look back at what happened in their lives during the Year of the Rat. Here are their answers with some of them even sharing what they want to do this 2009.

Gary Valenciano - "A lot of ups and downs but I think this year has been overwhelming for me. There are things that I could have done but I didn't do. There are things that I shouldn't have done but I did. But overall, I think it's been a very blessed life and incredible blessed year and it only makes me look forward to the years ahead."

Pero, all in all, natutuwa ako dahil kahit na may masamang nangyari, may magandang nangyari. They're always there to support me, to help me out. Of course, GMA-7 has always been there for me also. So, overall, I'm very happy.

"This year [2009], hopefully ma-fulfill ko ang goals ko. As an individual and as an actor, marami rin akong goals. Pero, siyempre, with the very limited time that I have, mahihirapan din akong ma-achieve 'yong goals na 'yon, pero that won't stop me from achieving those goals."

Jericho Rosales - "I think it's a very, very good comeback for me and I'm very happy about it. I'm very thankful, thankful kay God. Of course, sa mga supporters, di ba? I'm just very thankful and humbling din, at the same time. In a way, parang, siyempre, 'yong pinagdaanan ko humbling, di ba? Now, I'm back and tuluy-tuloy na."

Arnel Pineda - "I'm very lucky, I was so blessed. I think I will share it with the less fortunate children."

For the new year, the vocalist of the foreign band Journey wishes to have, "good health, because I've been quite sick because of, you know, the grueling tour. I have to be healthy para maka-ready sa next tour."

Valerie Concepcion - "Maganda naman ang naging 2008 ko. Masaya kasi maraming blessings and it was a great year. You know, I couldn't ask for more—my family is okay and in good health, 'tapos sa career ko, maraming blessings na dumarating. Sa lovelife naman, though I still don't have a boyfriend, I'm dating someone, so I'm in someone's company and okey na ako doon.
