Regine Velasquez will serve as judge in ABS-CBN's upcoming singing competition, Idol Philippines.

Regine Velasquez admitted that she was encountering limitations in her career, which is why she made the big switch from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN.

When asked what triggered her decision to return to ABS-CBN and leave GMA-7 after two decades, Regine explained:

"The main reason really is, first of all, I just wanna say that 20 years po ako sa GMA and I am very thankful to them.

The former Kapuso star said she did not do a network transfer but she simply returned to her original home network.

Regine disclosed that her first TV shows were with ABS-CBN via the shows Teen Pan Alley and Triple Treat during the 1990s.

"I actually started here in ABS-CBN. They gave me a television show na practically hindi ako kilala.

"I was only 16 or 17 years old and I did two TV shows. I did Teen Pan Alley. Kasama ko dun si Janno Gibbs att Bing Loyzaga. Then I did Triple Treat.

"Then halos maging mainstay ako ng Sang Linggo nA PO Sila. Not to mention yung show ng aling idol na si Sharon Cuneta. Nandun rin ako sa Ryan Ryan Musikahan.

"Dito po talaga ako nag-umpisa and I am happy to be back."

"I wanted to work with ABS-CBN.

"I want to do a concert with Sharon, Sarah [Geronimo], Piolo [Pascual]...

"They're all here. I want to work with other people.

"Especially the last few years, medyo nahihirapan na ako mag-collaborate. It was getting harder and harder.

"Again, I am thankful to GMA. I have nothing bad to say about GMA."

Regine also named Robin Padilla, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Daniel Padilla, and Aga Muhlach as the Kapamilya stars she wants to work with.

NOOD KA MUNA!

She revealed during her welcome presscon at the Kapamilya Network, "Siyempre, nakakatuwa sa Twitter, kasi kung anu-ano mga hinuhulaan nila na gagawin ko.

"Siyempre pinagtatawanan ko sila, 'Hahaha! Mali kayo diyan!' Salbahe ba ako?"

One of those guesses was that Regine will be a coach in The Voice.

During her presscon, it was announced that Regine's will be a part of ABS-CBN's franchise of Idol, titled Idol Philippines.

In the past, Regine served as the host of singing competitions she did in GMA-7.

This time, the Asia's Songbird will be a judge.

She said, "I’m so excited kasi first time ko rin ito gagawin.

"So first time akong magdya-judge kasi bilang di ako judgmental na tao, first time ako magdya-judge ng singing contest.

When asked if she will be doing The Voice, she answered, "Hindi, kasi I'm doing Idol Philippines."

According to the singer/actress/TV host, she immediately conducted research upon learning that she will be a judge in the show.

"Gusto ko maging totoo, but not in a bad way of course, I am never mean naman, e.

Regine faced the press for the first time as a Kapamilya last October 17 at the Dolphy Theater.

WILL REGINE SING CHRISTMAS STATION ID?

Fans of Regine and ABS-CBN are also asking if Regine will be singing the Christmas Station ID of the Kapamilya network for this year.

Without batting an eyelash, Regine said about this, "E, siyempre, kasali ako dun!

"Hindi pa rin nila alam, pero I think I'm gonna be… meron silang gagawin, e.

"I don't want to say it kasi baka ma-preempt but I’m definitely gonna be proud of it."

However, one thing that she is sure of is that her voice will be heard on prime-time soon in one of ABS-CBN's teleseryes.

"I'm so excited because I'm singing the theme of The General’s Daughter.

"At extra special kasi kinomisyon nila si Ogie [Alcasid] to write the song. So Ogie wrote the song and I’ll sing it.

"Ayun.

The General's Daughter is an upcoming teleserye of ABS-CBN starring Angel Locsin.

This is not the first time that Regine will perform a theme song for a Kapamilya series.

In 2011, she was commissioned to sing "Sino Ako," the theme song of Kim Chiu's teleserye My Binondo Girl. However, it was not allowed to be mentioned back then.
