Matthew Libatique, Trevor Jimenez earn Oscar nominations

Dalawang may dugong Pinoy ang nakasama sa official list of nominees para sa 91st Academy Awards, or The Oscars.

Ito ay ang cinematographer na si Matthew Libatique at ang animation short film maker na si Trevor Jimenez.

Nominated si Libatique for Best Cinematography para sa pelikulang A Star Is Born na pinagbidahan nina Bradley Cooper at Lady Gaga.

Ang mga co-nominees niya ay sina Robbie Ryan for The Favourite, Lukasz Zal for Cold War, Caleb Deschanel for Never Look Away, and Alfonso Cuarón for Roma.

Ito ang second Oscar nomination ni Libatique dahil na-nominate na siya noong 2010 para sa pelikulang Black Swan na pinagbidahan ni Natalie Portman.

May 20 years na sa Hollywood si Libatique, who was born and raised to Fil-American parents in Queens, New York.

Nagsimula siya sa pag-shoot ng mga music videos para sa mga music artists na 98 Degrees, Dru Hill, Jay-Z and The Cranberries.

Noong makilala niya in 1998 ang film director na si Darren Aronofsky, nag-collaborate sila sa mga pelikula nitong Pi, Requiem For A Dream, Black Swan and Mother!

Ang ilan pang pelikula kunsaan naging cinematographer si Libatique ay ang Iron Man 2, Straight Outta Compton and Chi-Raq.

Si Trevor Jimenez naman ay isang Filipino-Canadian at nominated siya para sa category na Best Animated Short Film for Weekends.

Ito ang first Oscar nomination niya at makakalaban niya ang Animal Behaviour, Bao, Late Afternoon at One Small Step.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, naging bahagi ng Pixar co-op program si Jimenez na nagde-develop ng animated short at tumutulong sa mga animators and background painting.

Nakipag-collaborate din si Jimenez with other Pixar artists sa mga animations na Monsters University, Inside Out, Finding Dory, Coco and Bao.

Nakasama rin siya sa paggawa ng animated films na Rio at Dr. Seuss' The Lorax.

Si Trevor ay pamangkin ng veteran entertainment writer na si Baby K. Jimenez.
