The awards night for the 8th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival was held on July 29, 2012, at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Typhoon Gener, which raged that night, did not keep the event from being star-studded.
