Siquijor Vice Governor Dingdong Avanzado (left) points out some lessons from the inflamed joke that Isabelle Daza (right) posted in her social media account: "‘Think Before You Click,’ kasi sa ipo-post mo na hindi maganda, mayroon talagang taong mao-offend. Pag tayo ay maraming followers, it doesn’t mean that you just blurt out whatever we want to say on our social media."

Ani Dingdong, “I just want to clarify her statement, in fact, if you read my statement very well, it is more on clarifications.

“I think a lot of people there in Siquijor ang nag-react sa kanya, na hindi maganda yung pinost niya na hashtag.

I’ll look into it.’

“Sabi ko sa konsehal ko na, let’s give her a chance.

"Alam ko naman na her message is referring to her at sa mga kasama niya at nag-e-enjoy sila.

“It’s not their intention na siraan ang Siquijor, but of course there is also responsibility attached to it.

“Kasi she is a celebrity, and then you use the name of the province, even if you’re doing it…

"Hindi naman pwedeng sabihin na that’s your problem, not my problem... no, e. You have to be sensitive to that.

“What I did was, I just wanted to give her a chance to clear it and good thing she did.

“She apologized in her Instagram account, that is the nice thing, end of story, let’s all move on.”

GOOD PUBLICITY.

Saad ni Dingdong, “I didn’t look at it from that perspective, I just felt that I had to act on it because my constituents are concerned.

Does Dingdong have anything to say to Isabel?

“Sabi nga nila ‘Think Before You Click,’ kasi sa ipo-post mo na hindi maganda, mayroon talagang taong mao-offend.

“Pag tayo ay maraming followers it doesn’t mean that you just blurt out whatever we want to say on our social media.

“Yung iba sinasabi, 'This is my freedom of expression, I can say whatever I want to post. This is my social media, this is my account.'

"True! But then again, you have to face the people who may get offended on what you’re going to put there.

“But, like I said, I have nothing against Isabelle Daza, sabi ko nga I find her as someone who is nice.

“She told me nga that she enjoyed her stay in Siquijor, but she had to know also na may mga na-offend na mga taga-Siquijor.

“She apologized naman, that’s the nice thing about what she did, she made an apology.

“I think lumaki kasi nang husto ‘yan when the bashers picked it up and spread it.

“Then may mga nag-comment at may mga against sa kanyang post and became a big thing at nag-trending pa siya.

I just did what I had to do.”
