Kuwento ng Japanese actress, “Oh, my god! Actually, way before we started to date, he was asking me these questions and, of course, all the tsismis that I’ve had before.
“And he will be, like, “How’s your movie? I saw your movie Nilalang. The co-star and leading actor, Cesar Montano, are you guys friends? Is this rumor true?’ Stuff like that.
“And I’m, like, ‘Of course it’s just tsismis.’
“Cesar is a gentleman. He’s really nice. But then, nothing really happened.”
Sabi pa niya tungkol kay Jose, “He was really worried if I had a relationship before.
“I was, like, ‘No, no, no, no, no! Nothing to worry about.’
“It’s cute that he cares.”
Patuloy ni Maria, “But he told me not to joke like that, ‘because the Filipinos are so malicious about your joke. They take it seriously.’
“Seriously, and I didn’t know that. I learned my lesson that time.
“He taught me, ‘Be careful of your words, what you say. You’re an icon.’
“Now that we’re together, I think before I say things.”
LESSONS FROM JOSE.
“He teaches me. Actually, he’s a really smart person.
“Whenever I ask him about, like, for example, culture, history... whatever I don’t know.
“Even English vocabulary, I don’t know or I forget or I don’t know how to spell, I go directly to him.
“He will always teach me everything."
Ayon pa kay Maria, “He will teach me how to be like a normal girl, to be appropriate, dress norms, like, casual or whatever.
“When we go to weddings, I used to wear sexy dresses.
“But then, he tells me, ‘When you go to places like that, you wear more conservative dress. Be more like a first lady.’
“He teaches me a lot of stuff. I learned a lot from him.”
Sagot ng dating adult-film actress, “Yes… well, first, of course, it’s hard because Japan is not a conservative country.
“Whatever you do, whatever you get, nobody judges you.
“But here, I’ve noticed people are, like, they really take every single word that you say seriously.
“Which is a good thing also, but it’s kinda hard. To do it sometimes when you’re a foreigner.
“But since I love the Philippines so much, and I wanna stay here for good, like I said, I try to fit in.
“I’m trying my best to fit in this country.”
STAYING FOR GOOD.
“Super hard!” bulalas niya.
“After two years, it’s been better and I’ve learned a lot.
“I know, like, 50 percent of the culture.
“Before, on the first year or the first six months that I was here, every day was a problem for me.
“Everything was a hassle because it’s so different.
“Even business is different, people are different. Like, what they think, what they say, how they act. All different.
“The biggest thing is, like I said, the business and the family matter.
“So I got into lots of trouble in interviews, because I would always say, like, business is like number one, forget about family.
“But then, here, that’s the different way.”
Dagdag pa ni Maria, “For now, I am happy that I learned the culture here in the Philippines, because now I know how to respect family.
“Now I know how important they are.
“And if I want a family of my own here in the Philippines, now I’m happy that my thinking is family first.
“So that I wouldn’t have to make the same mistakes that I used to do.”
Sagot ni Maria, “Right now, I cannot imagine myself without a career.
“I cannot imagine myself being a housewife.
“But in the future, I think that’s what I want to do.
“I really wanna settle here for good.”
Patuloy niya, “If I have to stay here in the Philippines, I would love to have a family here of my own. Not in Japan.
“I have no plans of going back to Japan anymore.
“If I can, of all the countries I have been doing business in the world, I would pick the Philippines.”
ACTING CAREER.
Pahayag niya, “After doing guesting, like in GMA, doing a movie, I noticed I’m not really comfortable with my acting skills.
“But I would love to do a love comedy or action movie with Jose. It would be so much fun.
“If ever we have a chance, I would love to work with him.
“Of course, with or without him, I would like to come back.
“But for now, I like to do business. A bar lang for now.”
Ayon kay Maria, “It’s done already. I don’t look back in the past.
“What’s done is done. Moving forward.”
