Donita Rose says despite their divorce, she and ex-husband Eric Villarama have agreed to share parenting responsibilities to their only son. "JP's dad and I both agreed that we would really put the past behind us and help raise him together. The term is co-parenting. We co-parent my son," says Domita.

“I'm actually divorced. Na-finalize siya nung December of last year.”

“So that's gonna take... I'm only going to start now sa annulment process.

“I was married in the US.

“Then, nung naghiwalay na kami, akala ko divorce will be enough because sa US kami ikinasal.

“Then, nalaman ko, kapag Filipino citizen ka, you have to also get an annulment.”

Ikinasal sina Donita at Eric sa Santa Barbara, California, USA, noong June 9, 2003.

COMPLETELY HEALED.

“One of the reasons why I know na nakapag-move on na ako is because yung son ko, he went to visit his dad for three months.

I had to get over it.

“It changed me. Now I'm able to think straight again. I can laugh at life and enjoy everything.”

“And so, every day, when I do my latte art, gumagawa ako ng heart.

CO-PARENTING.

Ayon kay Donita, “I read this book before that talks about it takes a village to raise a family.

“First and foremost, when you go through a divorce, you have to take seminars in the US that teach you how to co-parent.

“Meaning, kung ano man ang naging issues sa mag-asawa, you have to put that behind you and focus on the well-being of the child.

“JP's dad and I both agreed that we would really put the past behind us and help raise him together.

“The term is co-parenting. We co-parent my son."

Dagdag niya, “Sa ngayon, wala namang problema dahil sa FaceTime.

“So, kung may issue, kaming dalawa ang nandun.

“Kumbaga, his dad is there and I'm there.”

Kuwento niya, “The fact na nakapag-visit siya sa tatay niya for three months already, parang naayos na rin niya yung homesickness niya sa tatay niya, ‘cause he does miss his dad.

“But JP has a lot of father figure here in the Philippines.

“So far, ang nasasabi niya, he doesn't feel the emptiness because, at the end of the day, I always tell my son na, ‘Whether together o hiwalay, if you focus on your earthly father, lahat naman tayo nagkakamali.
