Actress Denise Laurel is planning to undergo surgery to remove a cyst from her breast.
The actress revealed this information to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and two other reporters at the finale press conference of the ongoing ABS-CBN afternoon teleserye The Better Half, Thursday, August 24.
The Better Half is now down to its last two weeks of airing.
Denise said, “Yeah, after this [teleserye], I’m gonna be taking out the lump in my breast.
"I’m gonna be just removing it. They’ll just take out the cyst."
Her doctors have told Denise there is no rush for the surgery.
But the actress wants it over and done with as soon as her schedule permits.
“They said I could take my time, but it’s getting bigger and it’s getting bothersome, 'coz siyempre the proportions…
“Maybe I’m just OC [obsessive-compulsive], but I’m gonna have it taken out, and that will require me to rest just a little bit.”
Denise added that she is most probably going through the procedure after the Star Magic Ball, slated to take place in September.
CANCER SCARE. Denise had a cancer scare in 2016 after several lumps were detected in her body, particularly in her lymph nodes, breast, and ovaries.
She related that what worried her doctors was that the lumps showed she was prone to cancer.
However, in June 2016, Denise gave an update, through social media, that she was cancer-free.
Denise's doctors have advised her to keep a healthy lifestyle.
Following the discovery of the new cyst in her breast, she said, “I just have to always keep a healthy lifestyle. I have to remove this one.
“Make sure I stay away from chicken with steroids and the non-organic food, and exercise and sleep.”
In a previous interview, Denise said that lack of sleep, or puyat, was the main cause of her lumps.
“They said that sleep is the number one I should have, but in my profession, it requires me to not sleep.
“You’re torn. You wanna do what you love, and you’re blessed to get paid to do what you love, but then you’re body... I’ve been puyat for 21-22 years in September.”
Denise said that their taping for The Better Half is down to its last three days.
