Derek Ramsay is grateful that ABS-CBN’s top executives gave him a warm welcome as a Kapamilya five years after his controversial transfer to TV5.
The 40-year-old actor gave the statement soon after ABS-CBN management released an official statement saying that they had an amicable meeting with Derek to settle past issues.
Derek was a Kapamilya for five years before he transferred to TV5 in 2010.
“I'm very, very happy that I was able to sit down and talk with ABS management,” said Derek in response to ABS-CBN’s warm welcome.
“This meeting was long overdue. It was something I've been wanting to do for the longest time.
“Everything was a big misunderstanding and this meeting cleared everything up.
“I have always had great respect for ABS and I've always said that they are one of the major reasons I am where I am today.”
Derek, who is currently in Italy, spoke with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) via exchange of text messages last night, November 17.
Asked if he’s set to transfer to ABS-CBN and do TV work, Derek clarified that he is “still under contract with TV5” to date.
His contract with TV5 will expire in April next year.
For now, he’s excited to do a movie with Bea Alonzo and Paulo Avelino under ABS-CBN’s film company, Star Cinema.
“This project with Bea and Paulo is something I'm very excited to work on and I am thankful to ABS for trusting me to do it.
“I'm also very thankful to my TV5 family for allowing me to do this project.
“They have always been supportive with allowing me to grow as an actor.”
As early as July this year, Derek lightly remarked in an interview that he is no longer banned in ABS-CBN.
Aside from his previous appearances in Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV) and Tonight With Boy Abunda, he also starred opposite Kapamilya actress Coleen Garcia in the movie Ex With Benefits in 2015.
