February 4 is the last day of submission for Cinema One Originals 2011

Instead of choosing seven finalists, 10 screenplays will receive a P1 million grant from Cinema One.

The family drama Layang Bilanggo, starring Miriam Quiambao and Will Devaughn, emerged as the Best Picture during the 6th Cinema One Originals digital film festival. This year, 10 screenplays will receive a P1 million grant from Cinema One.

PRESS STATEMENT FROM CINEMA ONE ORIGINALS:


"Movie cable channel Cinema One announced that the deadline for the submission of entries for the 7th Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival is on February 4, 2011.


"Since its inception in 2005, the Cinema One Originals become instantly recognized to be the melting pot of new talents-scriptwriters, actors and directors whose ideas and stories to present are different. This means movies that veer away from the formulaic and mainstream but which big production companies are reluctant to produce.


"In the succeeding years, Cinema One Originals has paved the way for filmmakers like like Jerold Tarrog,Sherad Anthony Sanchez, Remton Zuasola, Jason Laxamana and Richard Somes to produce their films which emerged as winners in the Cinema One Originals festivals.

"Cinema One Originals movies like Movies like Confessional, Imburnal, Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria, Dose, Rome & Juliet, Huling Balyan ng Buhi and Yanggaw won awards locally and were even exhibited, competed and won awards abroad.

"Now on its 7th year, Cinema One Originals will carry no particular theme. Plus instead of the annual seven finalists, 10 screenplays will be chosen to receive a grant of P1million to produce his or her movie.

"A full story or completed screenplay is needed for submission plus the sequence treatment of the project, the signed entry form and entrant's updated curriculum vitae to the Cinema One Programming office at the 8th floor Eugenio Lopez, Jr. Communications Center, Mother Ignacia Ave. Quezon City, or you can call 4152272 local 3166."
