The Lav Diaz film Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan is included in The 10 Best Under-the-Radar Films of 2014 by American lifestyle magazine Details. This film starring Sid Lucero, Angeli Bayani and Archie Alemania is ranked No. 8 in the list chosen from "the year‘s best films [that] thrive in arthouses and international festivals, in the home-video market, and, increasingly, in the world of video-on-demand." Writer Calum Marsh described Norte as follows: "A four-hour Filipino drama derived from Crime and Punishment may sound rather intimidating, but Lav Diaz makes films with an audience in mind.
