"I took a break from showbiz, my last film was two years ago," pagtukoy niya sa Can’t Help Falling in Love na pinagbidahan nina Kathryn Bernardo at Daniel Padilla.

"I took a break because my husband and I were trying to get pregnant, so it’s part of what I need to do.

"I need to relieve myself of the stress that we had," pahayag ni Mae sa press conference ng Unbreakable kahapon, November 20, 2019.

"We did that and I did that.

"And I feel, after the hiatus, it’s time to go back.

"I feel this is also my direction, to come back and tell stories and entertain people,” paliwanag ng direktor tungkol sa kanyang dalawang taong pamamahinga mula sa moviemaking.

"It is not what you think it is," clarification niya.
