Isang bukas na liham para kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang ibinahagi ni Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez sa Facebook ngayong Linggo, July 26.

Ang kaawa-awa, nakababahala, at mapanganib na kalagayan ng libu-libo at kumpul-kumpol na mga kababayan nating pansamantalang nanuluyan sa Rizal Memorial Stadium noong Biyernes ng gabi, July 24, ang nag-udyok sa actor-politician para sulatan ang Pangulo.

Stranded sa Metro Manila dahil sa COVID-19 lockdown ang locally stranded individuals (LSIs), na umuwi sa Visayas at Mindanao nitong July 25 at July 26 sa pamamagitan ng Hatid Tulong program ng pamahalaan.

Sa tala ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), walong libo ang bilang ng LSIs na nakinabang sa transportation assistance program ng gobyerno.

Pero nakakaalarma ang pagsisiksikan nila sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. Walang makikita ritong social distancing para makaiwas sa COVID-19.

Gaya ng marami sa ating kababayan, hindi nakaligtas sa paningin ni Richard ang sitwasyon sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex na dahilan ng kanyang open letter para sa Pangulo.

Pinangangambahan ni Richard na marami sa mga taong ito ang mahawa ng COVID-19 at dalhin ito sa pag-uwi nila sa kani-kanilang probinsiya.

Nais niyang papanagutin kung sinumang may pasimuno sa hindi maayos na pag-oorganisa ng ganitong kalaking programa.

Kalakip ng ilang larawang kuha mula sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum, ito ang nilalaman ng sulat ni Richard kay Pangulong Duterte:

"Mr. President,

"This is the situation right now at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum for the Hatid Tulong program. Just in case no one is showing the real pictures. (the other one with Inquirer was from yesterday’s news)

"Who is your person in charge of this program? I am sorry but in my opinion, that person doesn’t know what he is doing in organizing something as big as this.

"He cannot tell the people to be in an orderly manner. No social distancing for more than 2 days!

"How many of them will be infected with Covid as they head home to their provinces this week because of this arrangement!?

Hindi ito ang unang pagkakataon na binatikos ni Richard ang Hatid Tulong program ng pamahalaan.

Pinuna rin niya noong May 25 ang Hatid Probinsya project na lumabag sa health protocols, na mahigpit na ipinatutupad ni Mayor Richard para hindi kumalat sa Ormoc City ang coronavirus.
