Nagbunyi ang mga Pilipino noong nakaraang taon dahil si John Arcilla ang hinirang na best actor sa awards at closing ceremony ng 78th Venice Film Festival na ginanap noong September 11, 2021 sa Venice, Italy.

Napanalunan ni John ang Coppa Volpi for Best Actor dahil sa kanyang mahusay na pagganap bilang corrupt journalist sa On The Job: The Missing 8 ng Reality MM Studios.

Dahil sa coronavirus pandemic, hindi nakadalo si John sa 78th Venice Film Festival kaya ang On The Job director na si Erik Matti ang tumanggap ng kanyang acting trophy. Pero ipinakita sa awards ceremony ang pre-recorded acceptance speech ni John.

Si Colin Farrell ang successor ni John dahil ang Irish actor ang nagwagi ng Coppa Volpi for Best Actor sa 79th Venice Film Festival dahil sa karakter na ginampanan niya sa The Banshees of Inisherin.

Tulad ni John, hindi nakadalo si Colin sa awards night ng 79th Venice Film Festival na idinaos noong Sabado ng gabi, September 10, 2021, pero tinanggap niya ang parangal sa pamamagitan ng isang live video message.

"I’m shocked to get this and thrilled," ang pahayag ni Colin tungkol sa acting award na ipinagkaloob sa kanya ng mga hurado.

Ang multi-awarded actress na si Cate Blanchett ang hinirang na best actress sa pinakamatandang film festival sa buong mundo. Marami siyang napahanga sa pagganap niya sa TAR.
