Earth Hour 2021 goes digital with informative watch party

Before the switch-off event on March 27, World Wide Fund for Nature-Philippines will hold a watch party for a webinar series featuring sustainable lifestyles that can help slow the permanent devastation that climate change can bring.

Ibang-iba ang magiging observance ng taunang Earth Hour ngayong 2021.

Dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic, magiging online na ang pagsasagawa ng annual environmental campaign na layuning isulong ang climate change awareness.

Gagawin sa March 27, araw ng Sabado, ang digital Earth Hour 2021.

Pero bago ang simbolikong “switch off” event—simula 8:30 ng gabi hanggang 9:30 ng gabi—pagsasama-samahin ang lahat sa isang online watch party.

Ayon sa World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature-Philippines, sisimulan ng 3:30 ng hapon at tatagal hanggang 9:30 ng gabi ang Earth Hour Phlix.

Sa istilo ng webinar series, tatalakayin ng celebrity WWF-Philippines Ambassadors ang sari-saring usaping nakaaapekto sa ating kalikasan.

CELEBRITY AMBASSADORS IN WEBINAR SERIES

Sa Facebook page ng WWF-Philippines, bandang 3:30 ng hapon ay magsasalita sina Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski at National Youth Ambassador Xia Vigor tungkol sa wildlife conservation at environmental education.

Dakong 4:30 ng hapon, magbibigay-kaalaman sina Pia Wurtzbach at KC Concepcion tungkol sa composting at pag-iwas sa pagsasayang ng pagkain.

Pagsapit ng 6:00 ng gabi, tatalakayin ni Iza Calzado ang panganib ng plastic pollution at kung ano ang ginagawa ng mga komunidad upang maresolba ito.

At para sa virtual switch off, makakasama ng watch party attendees sina Marc Nelson, Rovilson Fernandez, at Karen Ibasco sa gagawing countdown hanggang 8:30 ng gabi.

“We’ve never had this kind of Netflix kind of webinar series type that’s available for everyone to understand different kinds of topics,” saad sa official statement ni Gia Ibay, climate and energy program head ng WWF-Philippines.

“This one will be available to everyone for them to really understand what else they can do, the sustainable actions they can do, and apply it,” dagdag ni Ibay.
