Cloudy skies due to a low pressure area could spoil the view of the Super Blood Moon Eclipse on Wednesday evening in the Visayas and Mindanao, leaving those in Luzon with a better chance of seeing the rare celestial spectacle, PAGASA said.

If there's cloud cover in your area during the eclipse, PAGASA will be streaming it on its Facebook and YouTube pages as it refrains from accommodating walk-in visitors during the pandemic, weather forecaster Ariel Rojas told reportr.

The vantage point is the Science Garden in Quezon City. The only lunar eclipse of 2021 will see the moon turn red, hence, the name blood moon.

"Posibleng hindi po nila makita ang total lunar eclipse mamayang gabi. Sa Luzon area lang po, including Metro Manila, posible na makakita ng eclipse mamaya," he said.

"The moon will darken and turn red—a result of sunlight refracting off the Earth's rim onto the lunar surface—basking our satellite in a sunrise- or sunset-tinged glow.

"Unlike a solar eclipse, the phenomenon will be safely visible to the naked eye.

"This eclipse will be different because it happens during a "super moon", when the moon passes a mere 360,000 kilometers (225,000 miles) from Earth.

"At that point, it can appear 30% brighter and 14 % larger than at its farthest point -- a difference of around 50,000 kilometres (30,000 miles)."
