Ang Guba National High School na nagwagi ng First Silver Prize sa LivCom Awards ang nag-iisang finalist mula sa Pilipinas, at tinalo ang 160 entries mula sa 30 bansang kalahok sa kumpetisyon.

Nagwagi ang Guba National High School (GNHS) ng First Silver Prize para sa entry nito na eco-friendly projects sa Environmentally Sustainable Project category ng International Awards for Liveable Communities (LivCom Awards).

Ang nasabing eskuwelahan sa Negros Oriental ang nag-iisang finalist mula sa Pilipinas. Nagwagi ito laban sa 160 entries mula sa 30 bansang kalahok.

Isinagawa ang virtual finals ng kumpetisyon noong December 6-8, 2021.

Ang LivCom Awards ay isang prestihiyosong awards program at kinikilala ng United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) simula pa noong 2007.

Itinatag ito noong 1997 para kilalanin ang international best practices sa local environment and development habang pinapaganda ang kalidad ng pamumuhay ng mga mamamayan sa pamamagitan ng paglikha ng livable communities.

BUHAY NG TIPIKAL NA ESTUDYANTE SA GNHS, TAMPOK SA OFFICIAL VIDEO ENTRY

Ipinakita ng GNHS ang environmentally sustainable initiative nito at iba pang practices sa “Baktas sa Paglaom (Walk of Hope),” ang official video entry nito sa kumpetisyon.

Ayon sa official GNHS Facebook page post noong December 9, 2021, “This short film portrays the real case scenario of a typical Guba NHS student where she has to cross rivers and pass through rocky hills to chase her dreams.

“Transition from traditional school set up to new normal set up [due to COVID-19 pandemic] will also be witnessed in the video.

“Showcased in this short film as well are some of the environmental practices implemented in the school.”

Dagdag pa nito, “Through the efforts of the teachers, learners, parents, and all stakeholders, Guba NHS became one of the recognized schools not just in the local but also in the region and the national."

PAGSAGIP SA KAPALIGIRAN AT FOOD SUSTAINABILITY

Kabilang din sa mga proyekto ng GNHS ang pagpapaganda ng landscapes at iba pang bahagi ng area nito gamit ang recycled materials.

Tinuturuan rin ang mga estudyante na magkaroon ng kaalaman at kamalayan kung paano masasagip ang kapaligiran.

Nagpatupad din ang GNHS ng Gulayan sa Paaralan (School Vegetable Gardening) project para mapalaganap ang food sustainability sa komunidad.

Samantala, may aktibong partisipasyon ang mga miyembro ng komunidad sa pagbuo ng mga inisyatiba at para matiyak na may sapat na kaalaman ang mga mag-aaral sa malusog na pamumuhay.

GNHS PINURI NG DEPED SECRETARY

Pinuri ni Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Brione ang pagsisikap ng mga guro at kawani, maging ng mga mag-aaral.

Lahad ni Secretary Briones, na ipinanganak sa Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, "I would like to commend the personnel and the learners from Guba National High School in creating an eco-friendly school environment that is vital in saving our nature.

"I am very proud of my kababayans and I hope that this kind of initiative and projects would also encourage all schools nationwide in establishing a clean and green environment."
