Pinangungunahan ito ng Organizing Center for STEM Olympiad, na “engaged in STEM development to create 21st century skills through competitions, contests and olympiads,” ayon sa website.

Ang layunin ng competition ay “to create breakthroughs in science."

Saad pa sa website, “They will be given one big theme that will trigger them to contain a different thought so as to give birth to a breakthrough in their version of science.”

“In GSBC, the student-participants were tasked to make intriguing and creative videos that explain difficult STEM topics,” aniya sa panayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

“It does not require a lot of stock knowledge, such as what you'll need in quiz-bee type contests, or time and understanding such as what you'll need in innovation/hackathon contests. It was more on the fun side of the preparation spectrum than the stressful side.”

“For me, as their mentor, what's important is the experience. Manalo man sila o matalo, basta nakasali and nakapag-try sila.”

“For this GSBC, ang pinaka-take home ng student-participants dito ay yung experience na what works in a viral science video and what does not. They can use this when they join similar competitions in the future.”

Ang kanyang published work titled Team Abangers at ang Estilong Trumpo ay nagwagi ng Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) Salanga prize noong 2020.
