“Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and concurrent Metro Manila Film Festival Chairman Danilo Lim, who is the sole authority under the MMFF law to appoint members of the MMFF Executive Committee (Execom), announced the appointment of two new additions to the Execom to represent their sectors and organizations: LAURICE GUILLEN & NICK LIZASO.

“Award winning director and actress and a well-respected industry leader, Guillen was the very first Chair of the Film Development Council of the Phillipines and currently the President of the Cinemalaya Foundation Inc.

“Meanwhile, Arsenio ‘Nick’ Lizaso, a renowned actor, director, and producer, working for more than 60 years in theater, television, and film, is currently the President of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Chair of the National Commision on Culture and the Arts.

“In a statement, Chairman Lim said he is excited on this development in MMFF as he believes in the integrity and wisdom of the two new members. ‘Their track record speaks for themselves.’

“Further, Lim said he is optimistic that this will set the ground for a more constructive and productive work for the MMFF Execom and assure the public that it has reached out to all the sectors to serve the best interest of the film industry.

"’The appointment of Director Guillen in the MMFF execom will start a more fruitful collaboration between MMFF and Cinemalaya,’ Lim added.”

Sabi ni Jinggoy, “Originally, that was founded by my father, 1975, okay? It was Mowelfund who was handling the MMFF.

“When President Cory assumed power, she handed it to MMDA or MMC during her time, biglang nawala sa Mowelfund ngayon.

“Originally, waived yung mga amusement taxes, e. So, they have the cooperation of the 17 Metro Manila mayors.

“During the time of my father, I told him to revert it back to Mowelfund, because for me and for movie industry, yung MMDA doesn’t have any knowledge about the movie industry.

I really do not know the reason behind it,” pakli niya.

JERRY OLEA

1975 nagsimula ang taunang Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), sa panahon ni Presidente Ferdinand Marcos.

2002 nilikha ang Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), at in-absorb nito ang books, assets, rights, privileges, records, obligations and liabilities ng in-abolish na Film Development Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (FDFPI) at Film Ratings Board (FRB).
