Kuwento ni Martin, “Saturday, August 1, 2020, around 17:00 I walked in the beach with my registered dog on a leash from White House Beach Resort Station 1.

“When we reached Station 3 near the tourist center 4 beach guards approached me saying that dogs are not allowed at the beach, I asked what ordinance that says dogs are not allowed and they can’t give me an answer so they just said to sit down first and they will call a Malay Auxiliary Police officer to explain which ordinance I violated.

“Finally after 20 mins a Malay Auxiliary officer named ‘Katkat’ arrived on a motorcycle. I politely asked her which ordinance I violated, she said 'Ordinance No 182 Series of 2003 which states 6.1) Walking, bathing and/or engaging the dog in any activity on the beach, the sea, river, the vegetation area and/or the path road, plaza and any public places'; And I said yes you are correct that there is an ordinance but little do they know that this ordinance that is posted on White Beach is already REPEALED.”

Nasundan raw iyon ng isa pang insidente.

“Monday, August 3, 2020, as usual I did my afternoon walk same time from White House to Station 3.

“Police Officers ALVARO and PE on tactical uniform approached me with 8 beach guards and 4 Malay Auxiliary Officers behind them.

“To my surprise the same apprehending MAP officer ‘Katlat’ was with them. The police officers insisted that I committed another violation.

“Good thing OIC MAP officer Bovie Galigao arrived on a marked vehicle. I pointed out and explained everything that i said to ‘Katkat’ last Saturday and politely said, ‘Sir kung sa palagay nyo may nilabag po ako na ordinansa pasensya na po at malugod ko na tatanggapin ang violation ticket.’

“In fairness Sir Bovie was knowledgeable enough and said to his fellow officers that yes there is no ordinance that says dogs are not allowed in the beach.

“Before we parted ways I pleaded to him to talk to his fellow law enforcers not to harrass the locals and responsible dog owners as we are not violating any ordinance.”

Sabi pa ni Chef Martin, “I hope they will not generalize stray dogs that roam around freely and poop at the beach from responsible dog owners with dogs that are vaccinated and on leash with paper bags.

“I don’t see any reason why the local government are aiming for the registered dogs as there are no existing ordinance that banning leashed dogs on the beach.

“I hope they will realize that we are on a pandemic, we locals have no livelihood right now and this is our only outlet to walk in the beach with our family and our pets.

“This oppression of law enforcers should stop!”
