NOEL FERRER

Napakasaya namin nun!

Kaya tawag more than text ang aming exchanges.

Hanggang nag-birthday siya noong April 21.

Hanggang dumating sa dulo. Na parang napakahirap pa ring tanggapin.

Tito Ricky passed on, the same way he lived—quiet, but with great dignity, respect, and great impact.

Tito Ricky will forever be in our hearts.

Thank you, Tito Ricky for sharing your life with me, with us here in PEP and with our industry.

KORINA SANCHEZ

Lahad ni Korina Sanchez, “He began as my tormentor. Ricky Lo was Ricky Lo. In the 80’s and 90’s everyone in the industry revered and feared him.

“His Philippine Star column was the column to be in. He makes or breaks you. Through years of talking he became a friend and supporter of this struggling, determined TV reporter and host. I gave him the scoops. And the friend eventually because an ally.

“In later years Ricky Lo was still Ricky Lo. The one I could always rely on. Will never forget his tribute to me when I turned 50, dedicating three whole pages to testimonials to my person and career.

“I loved my friend Ricky. Till the day he had finally gone, no press conference was truly legit without his presence.

“Then on his 75th birthday recently I sent him his favorite food and I wondered why he was slow to respond. I marveled at how good he still looked.

“Am shocked. Am saddened. What a loss to all. End of an era. Never to be forgotten. To be so, so missed. I love you and will see you again one day my friend. Godspeed.”

Bahagi ng salaysay ni Dolly Anne Carvajal, “I will never forget the time he came to my rescue when I was embroiled in a controversy back in the 90’s.

“He devoted his entire column to print the ‘proof’ (a handwritten letter) that I was telling the truth. Kindness was In everything Tito Ricky did...

“The last time I got to bond with Ricky was when my Ninang Jen /PR Guru, Jennylei Caberte invited the both of us & Tita Cris Belen for an overnight press junket in Angeles.

“During the road trip, Ricky was prodding me to write a book about my ‘colorful past’. He told me, ‘Tell all pero no names para intriguing. Ang title ‘To all the Men I used To Love.’

“He was always there for me. Lalo na noong lowest point of my life. Lagi niya akong dinadalaw, binibigyang payo, pinapangiti, at hinahatiran ng inspirasyon. Kuya Ricky was one of my sources of strength to battle on, and more importantly, of hope that truth always prevails.
