Facebook post ni FDCP Chair Liza nitong Mayo 15, Sabado, “This was a promise Ice and I made to each other. Na through thick and thin, sa hirap at ginhawa, may pera o wala — WE WILL MAKE TIME to celebrate our love through these moments.

“And true enough, sobrang laking bagay na may mga special days na ganito because it gives us the reason to take the time to spend time together.

“So love, I know I am a day late. But I just want to remind you of this post I wrote six years ago, which captures what I feel for you, mula noon hanggang ngayon.

"May 14, 2013 — I was walking down the ‘aisle’ with nothing but a PROMISE to give you my love and my full commitment. We thought at first it was silly. ‘Let's do something crazy,’ I said. And you said yes. Just You. Me. And a consensus to take that leap of faith.

“But as we saw each other on both ends of that aisle, we knew right then that this was something else.

“Right in front of me is the man that I thought I almost lost some 13 years back—syempre Hindi na.

“At that very moment, I realized why it took a long time for us to see each other again.

“They say Soulmates and life partners are two different things, and in most cases, it's rare that you meet both at the same time. Most often than not, your soulmates are different from your life partners.

“Sabi nila, yung soulmate daw, pwedeng di mo makatuluyan. But a Life Partner, eto yung supposed to be for KEEPS.

“So that's why US didn't happen 13 years ago. Therefore, life prepared us not just to be each other's soulmates but life partners as well."

I think we are all, even at a high school age, we are intelligent enough to see a positive value in somebody older or chosen as a hero who can really bring out the best in us,” sabi ng 78-anyos na si Kidlat Tahimik, National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts.

Here’s wishing them the best, and more years of peace, quiet, contentment and true happiness!

Sabi ni Professor Nick Deocampo, “Many scholars and critics would like to think that the best time of cinema was during the silent film period.

“That is debatable of course, and to a certain point I would like to agree… getting old and becoming the historian myself, learning all the wisdoms of all decades of filmmaking that silent cinema was a period par excellence, right? A superior period wherein film did not need dialogues.

“The film themselves as visual experience really came across on the screen. And for that reason, cinema was able to become global and transnational.

“It did not need language to be able to penetrate India or the Philippines, or Vietnam, all the African countries or Latin American countries.

“Sure there where intertitles and that’s where the language came in, but the visual was independent of the spoken language.

“And to a certain point, many of our students right now and filmmakers are so dialogue-dependent. All the characters speak and speak and speak that you can close your eyes in moviehouses, or do something else while your video is running in your laptop and you know, you may not even need to watch it.

“The whole point is, let’s go back to the very lessons that silent cinema has given us and this is film language.

“For me, it’s very important because it brings us back to the very essence of what cinema is.”
