Tapos, ang kanyang huling MMK episode—na tumutukoy sa advocacy niya on mental health and women empowerment—ay ang pambato ng ABS-CBN sa international awards.
Then here comes the good news: FINALLY talaga, kumpirmado na ang paglipad ni Iza—hindi lang sa kanyang career at personal na buhay bilang DARNA.
Yes, she will be the original heroine na magpapasa ng powers—dati pa from Liza Soberano pa sana to ngayon na si Jane de Leon sa teleseryeng sisimulang i-shoot sa October na raw.
Ano ang masasabi niyang itinaon pang ngayon birthday niya ang announcement ng kanyang pagka-Darna?
“Naiyak ako! It’s one of the best birthday gifts! On different levels, nakaka-lift lang ng puso at spirits,” sabi ni Iza.
“Finally, I can claim to be part of the Pinoy superhero history! I almost had the chance in the past, but God had other plans.
“I was not meant to be that Darna but He surely prepared me to play this Darna. Everything always happens in His perfect time. I call it Divine Timing.
“Being a hero during these challenging times is exciting and female one at that just means so much more.

Ang yumaong si Tito Lito Calzado ang unang pumasok sa isip ko sa balitang matutuloy na rin ang pagka-Darna ni Iza.
Noong pinag-uusapan ang Darna sa GMA-7, kung saan isa si Iza sa pinagpilian, nakakausap ko ang ama niyang si Tito Lito na excited sa project na yun.
Nakikita raw kasi niya sa anak ang tunay na pagkatao ni Darna: Bukod sa anyo nitong isang kayumanggi, fit na fit at kayang harapin ang lahat na mga challenges sa buhay.
Hindi ko lang maalala kung panahon pa yun ni Angel Locsin (2005) o ni Marian Rivera (2009).
Pero noong hindi ito napunta kay Iza, nakita ko ang slight na pagkadismaya ni Tito Lito.
Sinasabi naman ni Tito Lito sa akin noon na wala siyang mairereklamo sa projects na ibinigay ng GMA-7 sa anak niya kaya okay lang daw kung hindi nakuha ni Iza ang Darna project.
Kaya tingin ko, si Tito Lito ang isa sa pinakamasaya ngayong magagampanan na rin ni Iza ang Darna role.
Pero siyempre, iba ang atake na ngayon ni Iza, lalo na’t ang dami na niyang paghuhugutan ngayong nasa pandemya tayo.

Paano ba ang paghahanda ni Iza sa pagda-Darna?
Tugon ng premyadong aktres, “Since just before Liza Soberano’s time until Jane de Leon’s reign as Darna, I have become the constant.
“It was 2017 when I was tapped to be part of this project. I had talks with our former director/s Erik Matti and Jerold Tarrog about how to approach my character and certainly excited to work with whoever will be at the helm of the series.
“I know they have the best director for this. Fitness has always been part of my lifestyle and have had many training sessions with the fight directors both with Liza and Jane.
“The role is pretty taxing. I have to be in shape and be prepared physically, mentally and emotionally and I feel I am most ready to take on this challenge now.”
Nang i-announce na e-exit na si Jane de Leon sa FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, ang pralala ng ABS-CBN ay Setyembre nito sisimulan ang Mars Ravelo’s DARNA The TV Series.
