The biggest, most popular, and the widely supported and anticipated 47th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is on for a hopeful start as the eight official entries are named.
From the 19 finished film submission from various production companies, the esteemed members of the Selection Committee headed by the multi-awarded and much respected leader of the film industry Boots Anson-Roa Rodrigo chose the Top 8 based on the following criteria: Artistic Excellence — 40%, Commercial Appeal — 40%, Filipino Cultural Sensibility — 10%, and Global Appeal — 10%.
The Official 8 entries to the MMFF 2021 are:
A HARD DAY, starring Dingdong Dantes & John Arcilla, directed by Lawrence Fajardo, produced by Viva Films.
BIG NIGHT, starring Christian Bables, directed by Jun Robles Lana, produced by Cignal & Idea First/ Octobertrain & Quantum Films.
LOVE AT FIRST STREAM, starring Anthony Jennings and Kaori Oinuwa, directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, produced by ABS-CBN Films Productions.
WHETHER THE WEATHER IS FINE (KUN MAUPAY MAN IT PANAHON), starring Daniel Padilla and Charo Santos-Concio, directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, produced by Cinematografica, Globe Studios, Quantum, CMB, etc.

Hereon, the production can now start their promotional efforts which will be highlighted by the Parade of Stars which still has to be decided on by the MMFF Execom.
The 47th MMFF will run from December 25, 2021-January 7, 2022 back into the theaters nationwide observing the required health protocols.
The Gabi Ng Parangal will be on December 27.
MMDA and MMFF Chair Benhur Abalos said, “It has been our desire for our theater partners to bounce back to business once again, and we are helping them build the confidence in the movie audiences and encourage them to go back to watching films where they should be enjoyed to the fullest— the cinemas. Thus, this year’s MMFF will be back in the cinemas where they initially and rightfully belong.”
For the first time, fluvial parade ang Parada ng mga Bituin sa Disyembre 23.
So, walang host city!
Nag-backout sa MMFF 2020 ang The Exorcism of My Siszums ng Gonzaga Sisters.
