"THE CAST of Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told Bags Special Jury Prize in MMFF Gabi ng Parangal; Deleter, Nanahimik ang Gabi Lead Awards Haul"
THE CAST of Action film Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told bagged the Special Jury Prize in the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal held on December 27 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
The announcement came late due to the technical glitch during the recently concluded awards night.
However, the MMFF Board of Jurors decided to give the CAST OF THE FILM the Special Jury Prize because of its effective ensemble acting portraying the valor and heroism of young Filipinos fighting the war against terrorism.
The film MAMASAPANO also won the Second Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award, and Best Original Theme Song ("Aking Mahal").
Psychological thriller Deleter took home the most number of win, earning awards for Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Lead Actress, and Best Picture.
Meanwhile, Nanahimik ang Gabi bagged the Best Production Design, Best Musical Score, Best Actor in Supporting Role, Best Actor, and 3rd Best Picture.

With the theme, "Balik Saya," all the eight films are being shown in theaters nationwide on December 25 and will run through January 7, 2023.

Ipinagkait pa rin nila ang Special Jury Prize sa pelikulang Family Matters na napakagaling ng mga pangunahing karakter — mula kina Noel Trinidad at Liza Lorena, hanggang kay Ian Pangilinan.
Napagdududahan mo tuloy na tila may ibang rason sa likod nito kaya tuluyan nilang isinantabi ang hirap ng buong cast, production staff, at ang ganda ng pelikulang ito ni Direk Nuel Naval na isinulat ni Mel Mendoza-del Rosario.
Kitang-kita namin ang sobrang pagkadismaya ni Pandi, Bulacan Mayor Enrico Roque ng Cineko Productions nang sandaling nakausap namin pagkatapos ng awarding.
Tumanggi siyang magsalita pa, pero nalulungkot lang daw siya na hindi man lang daw ipinasok sa nominees ang ibang artista, lalo na sina Direk Nuel at Mel. Wala naman daw siyang magagawa kung iba talaga ang gusto ng mga hurado.
Text pa niya sa akin ngayong Disyembre 28, Miyerkules ng umaga: “Hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala sa nangyari kagabi.
“Imagine, a movie na pinili based sa finished film (not on script). A movie na kahit saang social media platforms and sinasabi pang Best Picture, at 5/5 ang ganda, walang nomination.
“The mere fact na napili ang Family Matters sa finished films, kahit papano siguro, maganda yung movie.
“Walo lang ang entries, tapos pumili ng lima para sa Best Picture nang hindi kasama ang Family Matters.
“Sana pala hindi na lang nila ipinasok sa huling apat na entries ang movie, kung basura pala… at yung wala kahit nomination man lang sina Tita Liza, Agot, Nikki, at Mylene, Direk Nuel, at Tita Mel, yun ang sobrang nakakalungkot kasi napanood ko nang maraming beses ang movie and I must say na nag-deliver sila.
“Magaganda naman ang iba pang entries at deserved nila ang manalo ng award, pero siguro naman kahit nominations deserved ng Family Matters.”
