“Honestly, as a millennial, ahmm... I have to be honest, and I’m just gonna speak for myself, but I think a lot of kids my age don’t really... ahhm... aren’t really involved in politics, and don’t know too much about it,” lahad ng young actor.
“And I’m also speaking for myself. I’m not in a place that can really make a comment because I’m not too educated on that subject.
“But it is going to be a political film and I mean, actually, no... it’s not even trying to be a political film but I know, it’s really going to be a ‘controversial’ film.
“So I feel it’s to each his own, you know, I just want people to enjoy the film, and whatever comments they have, you know, that’s up to them.”
Kumusta ang pakikipagtrabaho kay Eddie Garcia?
Napangiti si Tony, “Tito Eddie is the legend. He’s the man. It was really awesome working with him and I learned so much from him.
“So, I’m just happy that... ahh, for the rest of my career, I’m always gonna have that on my resume, that I worked with Tito Eddie.
“So, I’m really grateful. I learned a lot and it’s a great experience.”
“Actually, the first thing that anybody ever told me when I got the role is that Cinemalaya isa the most prestigious.
“So, actually... before I even got the role, nung sinabi nilang may meeting kami with Direk Benedict [Mique Jr.], sinasabi na ng manager ko, ‘Oy, this is really a prestigious film festival!’
“And ako, super-excited ako to hear that!”
Umaasam ba siyang maging best supporting actor sa Cinemalaya?
“I have no expectations,” matamang sambit ni Tony.
“I think, for me, at this point, it’s just all about learning.
"If I keep that mindset, ‘Oh, I wanna win this award!’ — I feel that puts me in a place na I’m allowing people to judge me, and I’m putting judgment on myself...
“So, I think, right now, I’m just trying to enjoy the process of me finding myself as an actor.”
NOEL FERRER: Hindi ko masakyan yung sinabi niyang “It’s going to be a political film, and I mean, actually no... it’s not even trying to be a political film but I know it’s really going to be a ‘controversial’ film.”
Bilang committed actor, you commit to your role and what the movie stands for—not just on the prospective controversy.
