Andrea Torres, 30 years old, is one of the prized contract artists of GMA Network.

Though she excels in portraying dramatic roles in several Kapuso teleseryes, Andrea has proven her versatility in comedy skits and action scenes as well.

She had also shown her hosting skill at the beginning of her showbiz career.

Andrea attributed her achievements more on the setbacks and disappointments she had endured in her 15 years in showbiz than on diligence, perseverance, and continuous learning.

She said these stumbling blocks merely steeled her for greater challenges.

She had always dreamed of becoming an actress and waited patiently for it to happen, and when it did, she kept her hopes up for her big break.

It was grueling for Andrea but said it was worth it.

She told (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an email interview, “If you believe in your dream enough, then calibrate your thoughts.

“Have the right mindset where a ‘no’ doesn’t push you away but gives you a harder drive.

“Where waiting doesn’t make you feel stagnant but presents itself as an opportunity to assess, improve, and learn.

“Embrace the process because then it will be so much sweeter and more valuable when you get that dream project of yours.”

Andrea Elizabeth Eugenio Torres was born on May 4, 1990 to Oscar and Emerita Torres.

Oscar is a college professor, while Emerita manages a food business.

Andrea has four siblings—Timothy, Kevin, Angeli, and Kenneth.

Interviewed by the entertainment press on July 17, 2018, Andrea revealed that social media bashers do not faze her, but she could get combative when dealing with negative comments about her family, especially about her brother Kenneth.

Kenneth, the youngest in Andrea’s family, has Down Syndrome.

She said, “Kapagka sa kapatid, naaapektuhan ako… minsan dyinu-joke nila yung ganun.

“Na-offend talaga ako, dinamdam ko siya talaga.”

For Andrea, Kenneth is her family’s “blessing,” and the one who inspired the actress to celebrate her birthdays with mentally-challenged children every year.

On May 28, 2015, Andrea was joined by Kenneth when she celebrated her 25th birthday with kids who have special needs held at the Barangay Pag-asa in Quezon City.

She declared then, “Blessing talaga iyan and dapat talaga alagaan sila at bigyan sila ng pagmamahal.”

Andrea Torres finished her elementary studies at the St. Scholastica’s College Manila.

For her secondary education, she enrolled at Colegio San Agustin on her first year.

She switched to homeschooling when she entered showbiz.

After high school, she enrolled at the University of Santo Tomas for a course in Communication Arts, but decided to stop after two years.

Andrea told, “Things started picking up with my career and I had to put my studies on hold because I felt like showbiz is also time-based.

“I have to grab the opportunity when it’s there, especially since it’s my chosen profession.”

Andrea has two more years to go to finish her studies, and she made it clear she still wants to complete a college degree, but not necessarily for the same course.

She said, “Getting a college diploma is definitely still one of my goals in life, but I feel like I want to shift to a different course to expand my world.

“I want to take up marketing or a business course. I also want to take up a culinary course."

She was obviously motivated as she revealed, "I’m excited for the day I get to bring home a college diploma to my father. I know that will make him really happy.”

Andrea Torres started showbiz at age of 15 as a Kapamilya talent.

“I was really blessed to be part of that show."

Andrea bared that weeks before the pilot of her launching teleserye, she was ecstatic, overwhelmed, and felt blessed to headline a major acting project, the Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga remake.

She was then 22, and had been working extra hard preparing for just that moment.

Andrea told members of the media in the teleserye's pocket presscon on August 14, 2012, “Iba iyong ibinigay lang sa iyo at iba iyong ang tagal-tagal mo nang pinaghirapan.

“At saka ang dami ko nang pinagdaanan, talagang ups and downs."

She did not elaborate, but admitted it came to a point when she had second thoughts about her decision to pursue her dream.

“Gusto ko talaga kasing mag-artista. Ever since noong bata ako, wala akong gustong gawin na trabaho. Kaya never kong naisip na mag-stop.

“Although, sinabi ko naman sa sarili ko na kung twenty-five [years old], wala pa ring nangyayari, medyo mag-iisip na ako na baka pinipilit ko na lang ang sarili ko.
