Andrea Torres, 30 years old, is one of the prized contract artists of GMA Network.
Though she excels in portraying dramatic roles in several Kapuso teleseryes, Andrea has proven her versatility in comedy skits and action scenes as well.
She had also shown her hosting skill at the beginning of her showbiz career.
Andrea attributed her achievements more on the setbacks and disappointments she had endured in her 15 years in showbiz than on diligence, perseverance, and continuous learning.
She said these stumbling blocks merely steeled her for greater challenges.
She had always dreamed of becoming an actress and waited patiently for it to happen, and when it did, she kept her hopes up for her big break.
It was grueling for Andrea but said it was worth it.
She told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an email interview, “If you believe in your dream enough, then calibrate your thoughts.
“Have the right mindset where a ‘no’ doesn’t push you away but gives you a harder drive.
“Where waiting doesn’t make you feel stagnant but presents itself as an opportunity to assess, improve, and learn.
“Embrace the process because then it will be so much sweeter and more valuable when you get that dream project of yours.”
Andrea Elizabeth Eugenio Torres was born on May 4, 1990 to Oscar and Emerita Torres.
Oscar is a college professor, while Emerita manages a food business.
Andrea has four siblings—Timothy, Kevin, Angeli, and Kenneth.
Interviewed by the entertainment press on July 17, 2018, Andrea revealed that social media bashers do not faze her, but she could get combative when dealing with negative comments about her family, especially about her brother Kenneth.
Kenneth, the youngest in Andrea’s family, has Down Syndrome.

She said, “Kapagka sa kapatid, naaapektuhan ako… minsan dyinu-joke nila yung ganun.
“Na-offend talaga ako, dinamdam ko siya talaga.”
For Andrea, Kenneth is her family’s “blessing,” and the one who inspired the actress to celebrate her birthdays with mentally-challenged children every year.
On May 28, 2015, Andrea was joined by Kenneth when she celebrated her 25th birthday with kids who have special needs held at the Barangay Pag-asa in Quezon City.
She declared then, “Blessing talaga iyan and dapat talaga alagaan sila at bigyan sila ng pagmamahal.”
Andrea Torres finished her elementary studies at the St. Scholastica’s College Manila.
For her secondary education, she enrolled at Colegio San Agustin on her first year.
She switched to homeschooling when she entered showbiz.
After high school, she enrolled at the University of Santo Tomas for a course in Communication Arts, but decided to stop after two years.
Andrea told PEP.ph, “Things started picking up with my career and I had to put my studies on hold because I felt like showbiz is also time-based.
“I have to grab the opportunity when it’s there, especially since it’s my chosen profession.”
Andrea has two more years to go to finish her studies, and she made it clear she still wants to complete a college degree, but not necessarily for the same course.
She said, “Getting a college diploma is definitely still one of my goals in life, but I feel like I want to shift to a different course to expand my world.
“I want to take up marketing or a business course. I also want to take up a culinary course."
She was obviously motivated as she revealed, "I’m excited for the day I get to bring home a college diploma to my father. I know that will make him really happy.”
Andrea Torres started showbiz at age of 15 as a Kapamilya talent.
She first appeared on television in ABS-CBN’s reality love team-search show Qpids back in 2005.
She was paired with fellow newbie Dominic Roco, but their love team was booted out in the fourth elimination round.

In 2007, Andrea bagged a minor role in her first movie—one of the episodes of the Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) regular Shake, Rattle & Roll IX.
After Qpids, Andrea had minor appearances in some Kapamilya shows before she decided to transfer home network.
On August 9, 2008, Andrea officially became a Kapuso.
She joined GMA-7’s weekly youth-oriented magazine program K-Blog! as one of its hosts.

Though K-Blog! aired for only two years, Andrea said it was a “great training experience” for her.
She recalled, “I did the craziest things on that show like go to an abandoned place for our Halloween episode and conquer my fear of heights while staying in character as Dora The Explorer. Hahaha!"
“I was really blessed to be part of that show."
While co-hosting K-Blog!, Andrea played minor roles in four films: Manay Po 2: Overload (2008), Loving You (2008), Shake, Rattle & Roll X (2008), and You To Me Are Everything (2010).
In 2011, Andrea appeared in her first teleserye, the GMA afternoon series Blusang Itim, where she played kontrabida to the character of Kylie Padilla.
The following year, Andrea did a supporting role in the 2012 prime-time series My Beloved, headlined by the Kapuso power couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
THE BIG BREAK
In September 2012, Andrea’s much-awaited big break came her way.
She was tapped to star in the modern adaptation of GMA’s 2002 drama series Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga, starring Tanya Garcia and Dingdong Dantes.
Andrea played Tanya’s character while Mikael Daez portrayed Dingdong’s part.
She recounted to PEP.ph in a separate email interview, “It was my launching project.
“I was so grateful that GMA trusted me enough with such a huge responsibility: doing the remake of a hit show and playing a dual character.”

Andrea bared that weeks before the pilot of her launching teleserye, she was ecstatic, overwhelmed, and felt blessed to headline a major acting project, the Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga remake.
She was then 22, and had been working extra hard preparing for just that moment.
Andrea told members of the media in the teleserye's pocket presscon on August 14, 2012, “Iba iyong ibinigay lang sa iyo at iba iyong ang tagal-tagal mo nang pinaghirapan.
“At saka ang dami ko nang pinagdaanan, talagang ups and downs."
She did not elaborate, but admitted it came to a point when she had second thoughts about her decision to pursue her dream.
“Gusto ko talaga kasing mag-artista. Ever since noong bata ako, wala akong gustong gawin na trabaho. Kaya never kong naisip na mag-stop.
“Although, sinabi ko naman sa sarili ko na kung twenty-five [years old], wala pa ring nangyayari, medyo mag-iisip na ako na baka pinipilit ko na lang ang sarili ko.
“Pero ano, luckily naman, dumating naman siya.”
THE LEADING LADY IN A TELESERYE
After Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga, Andrea headlined a a string of teleseryes: With A Smile (2013); Ang Lihim ni Annasandra (2014); The Millionaire’s Wife (2016); Alyas Robin Hood (2016); The Better Woman (2019), and I Can See You: The Promise (2020).
She worked with Mikael again in the romantic-comedy With A Smile and in the drama fantasy series Ang Lihim ni Annasandra.
Andrea also did a Cambodian film with Mikael titled Blood in Dispute in 2015.

Mike Tan was her leading man in The Millionaire’s Wife, a drama romance afternoon series.
In action-drama Alyas Robin Hood, she was paired with the Kapuso Prime-time King Dingdong Dantes.
Andrea previously worked with Dingdong in the Kapuso horror serye My Beloved, in the movie You To Me Are Everything back in 2010, and in another prime-time series, Pari Ko’y, in 2015.
In 2018, Andrea had a special participation in Alden Richard's fantaserye Victor Magtanggol.
She played the role of the goddess Sif, and did some action stunts for the series.
Last year, Andrea starred in prime-time drama series The Better Woman, her last full-length teleserye to date, opposite Derek Ramsay, who eventually became her boyfriend.

MOST MEMORABLE PORTRAYALS; THE DREAM ROLE
Though Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga would always be special for Andrea, her roles in Alyas Robin Hood (Venus) and The Better Woman (twins Juliet and Jasmine) were the most memorable for her.
Andrea elaborated: “I pour my heart and soul into every role, but playing Venus in Alyas Robin Hood, everything just whisked together perfectly.”

In The Better Woman, playing both the protagonist and the antagonist roles of twins Juliet and Jasmine was “the most challenging for me,” said Andrea.

PEP.ph asked Andrea about her dream role.
She answered, “Something like Gone Girl and Columbiana. I also want to be deglamorized for a role.”
Gone Girl is a 2014 American psychological thriller film starring Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck.
Rosamund received a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of a wife who faked her murder to frame her husband.
Columbiana is a 2011 Zoe Saldana-starrer French action-thriller movie about a Colombian woman who planned her revenge against a drug lord who killed her family years ago.
THE SEXY STAR
Andrea has done daring roles without hesitation, and why not?
She is one of the sexiest actresses of her generation, anyway!
She also has no qualms about gracing the cover of a men’s magazine and striking provocative poses for calendars and photo shoots.
In December 2014, Andrea delighted her fans with her much-awaited FHM Philippines cover photo, wearing only a topless pink bikini while lying on black sand.

The following year, Andrea released a gravure coffee table book titled Andrea Torres: Road Trip, where the actress, with the help of master lensman Jay Tablante, took her readers to a sensual adventure.
That same year, Andrea made it to the second spot of FHM Philippines’s annual 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll, topped by Jennylyn Mercado.
In 2018, Andrea flaunted her incredible figure again as the calendar girl for an energy drink.
A year after, in 2019, Andrea produced her own desk calendar, featuring snaps from her sizzling photo shoots, as a gift to fans who have been supportive of her for the last 10 years.
CONNECTING WITH FANS
Whether performing challenging roles in teleseryes, doing sexy poses for photo shoots, cracking jokes in GMA’s weekly gag show Bubble Gang (2013-2019), or portraying various characters in acting stints for Kapuso drama anthologies Magpakailanman, Wagas, and Dear Uge, Andrea has always enjoyed the support and love of her loyal fans.
“My aim is always to make them feel deeply and bring out emotions that are suppressed through the projects I do,” Andrea said of her fans in an email interview with PEP.ph.
“That’s the best feeling for me, when I know that fans can relate or somehow feel my character in the show.
“I want to take them with me on the journey of my character and really make them connect to the characters and the story.
“I want my shows/movies to be a treat for them,” she said.
