"They were asked to pose for the picture, they weren't doing anything," ito ang sabi sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ng isa sa mga eyewitness tungkol sa kumakalat na picture ng halikan diumano nina Gretchen Barretto at John Estrada.
A surprise birthday party for Rufa Mae Quinto was given by boyfriend Erik Santos sa bahay mismo ng sexy commedienne. More than 20 people attended the party including, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Rustom Padilla, Nadia Montenegro, Mitch Dulce, Say Alonzo, and some non-showbiz friends.
Dito sa party na ito nakunan sina Gretchen and John na naghahalikan.
Nang kumalat ang litrato sa Internet, isang text message diumano ang ipinadala sa lahat ng nasa party not to talk to anyone about it and don't talk, period.
Kaya nga hindi napilit na magsalita ang kahit sinong nasa party, kahit mismo ang birthday celebratrant na si Rufa Mae or sina Gretchen at John.
Still, nakakuha pa rin kami ng isang eyewitness—but on the strictest condition na hindi namin siya papangalanan.
"The thing about the picture, they were just asked to pose for the camera, they weren't doing anything there before or after," buong statement ng aming nakausap na eyewitness.
"Wala ngang alam si Peachy [Rufa Mae] dahil people were around the place that night—nasa sala, nasa labas—so hindi mo alam what was happening in other places of the room. Malaki ang bahay."
Ayon pa sa eyewitness, "The first picture, si John mismo ang kumuha. The second, pinakuha niya sa isa sa mga non-showbiz guest [a guy na hindi rin namin papangalanan]. The guy told them to pose and so they kissed."
Si John din daw ang may-ari ng cell phone, reportedly a Nokia N95 series. Kung paano lumabas ang picture, hindi raw alam ng aktor.
More information about the party, hindi raw magkasamang dumating ng party sina John and Gretchen. Marami raw bodyguards si Gretchen that night although nasa labas lang silang lahat. Magkahiwalay rin daw silang umuwi.
