With their growing family, Sherilyn and husband Chris Tan decided to look for a bigger place. April 2003, they left their condo unit in San Juan and moved to a 173-square-meter unit in a plush condominium building in Mandaluyong.
A strong believer in feng shui, Sherilyn decided to move out after a feng shui expert who checked out their old unit advised her: "Umalis na kayo dito, walang remedyo talaga."
"Parang hindi kami umaangat," Sherilyn discloses. "Financially, andito lang kami"—and she brings her hand up to her midriff. "Walang improvement. Saka may mumu sa unit namin. May mga nakikita si Paoie do'n."
Paoie is Ryle Paolo Sebastian, her son with former husband Junjun Santiago.
A good friend who's an interior designer, Pam Mendoza, offered to decorate Chris and Sherilyn's new place. But to match Pam's design, the couple sold or gave away all of their things and entrusted Pam's company, Pam Mendoza Design Associates, to come up with new pieces.
"Medyo napamahal pa rin," Sherilyn says, "pero maganda naman 'yong kinalabasan. But it's still a work in progress."
