Social media websites have given people the means to share everything about themselves in just a few keystrokes.
And everything people post (i.e. photos, videos, text) will eventually reach the attention of friends in a small matter of time.
Celebrities are no exception. We are seeing more stars signing up on Facebook and/or Twitter and sharing their daily rants and raves with the world.
The drawback for celebs in maintaining a social media web page is that the public scrutinizes whatever they post.
Moreover, electronically saved data (e.g. personal videos), containing rather provocative content, may be "hacked" and shared on the Net.
We feature some PEP headlines of 2011 showing the controversial results of stars posting on social media.
If you have stories to share, feel free to post them in the COMMENTS SECTION of this page.
Anabelle Rama's supposed Tweets targeting Nadia Montenegro. It started with a child-abuse suit filed by Nadia Montenegro against Annabelle Rama, who is the manager of Nadia's children Alyanna, 17, and Annika Asistio, 15.
Expectedly, Annabelle reacted. She tweeted posts of insults purportedly targeting Nadia. This resulted in more lawsuits against Annabelle from Nadia: libel and unjust vexation.
For her part, Annabelle defended herself by saying that she never mentioned any name in her tweets: "Ngayon, yung lahat ng mga blind item ng Twitter ko, kung sa palagay mo ikaw yun, e di ikaw yun!"

Angelica Panganiban VS. Phil Younghusband's Twitter Fan. Posts by Angelica Panganiban (@IamAngelicaP) on her Twitter page about football player Phil Younghusband's supposed appearance in an indie film sparked a heated debate with Phil's Twitter follower.
It all started with Angelica posting:
"si phil may indie film... Akala ko ba football player sya??? :( lahat na lang artista na :( sad..."
"Sila rooney ba gumagawa ng movie? I dont think so :) mukhang busy lang sila kkpractice para laging manalo :)" (Wayne Rooney is a popular football player based in England)
"masama. Sana lang mag focus muna silang lahat sa football. Para sa pinas kasi yun. #justsayin' after na lang ng tourny mag artista."
"Ang kitid ng utak ng iba. D ko sinasabing ang gusto ko eh ako lang ang artista. Kung gusto pala nya mag artista, sana d na sya nag football."
"Magaling mag football si phil. Stick to that muna :) kakasimula pa lang natin sa football. Baka mas magenjoy sya sa acting. Sayang."
"Ayan. Ok na ha? Concerned citizen lang po ako. Theres no need to promote FB everynight na sila nasa news. Magandang promotion na yun."
Netizens reacted negatively to the posts made by Angelica, but there was one who crossed the line in terms of civilized language.
A Twitter member (and clearly a fan of Phil) who calls herself "Baby Morales" ended up calling Angelica "dumb," "stupid," and "bitch."
Angelica mentioned plans to sue, but fortunately for Phil's Twitter fan, this did not push through.
PEP tried to get in touch with Baby Morales, but she/he has since changed her/his account to "private" and did not return PEP's queries.

Fortunately, the trouble between the two was sorted before things got too messy. But Tim, while accepting TJ's apology, said he was "still pissed" at the newscaster.

Bongbong Marcos and Jim Paredes's Heated Twitter Exchange Almost Escalates. Now here's a misunderstanding between singer-composer-activist Jim Paredes and politician Bongbong Marcos, courtesy of an overlooked Twitter feature.
The whole thing started when Senator Bongbong got into a tweet war with Twitter member @DearNoyNoy, who was opposed to the interment of Ferdinand Marcos in the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
@DearNoyNoy's tweet posted "Huwag mong papayagang mailibing ang nagkukunyaring bayaning Ferdinand Marcos sa Libingan ng mga bayani," and directed it to the Ilocano senator's account @bongbongmarcos.
Bongbong defended himself by replying to @DearNoyNoy with: "Nagkukunyari?' Galing sa iyo, nakakatawa ka; ni di mo mailagay iyong tunay na pangalan at litrato. No time for cowards (duwag)."
After that, @DearNoyNoy posted a tweet asking for help and tagging a number of people, including musician Jim Paredes.
Bongbong replied with: "@DearNoynoy @momblogger @jimparedes @kikopangilinan Haha! You just confirmed your cowardice." But the message was clearly for @DearNoyNoy alone and not for the other names mentioned.
Jim, however, thought he was called a coward by Bongbong, so he replied to the senator with a simple: "@bongbongmarcos, Return our money."
After numerous replies between the two, they finally realized that it was all a misunderstanding. But because of @DearNoyNoy's tags, which then automatically send tweets to him to all those tagged, the tweet exchange raged.

Bianca Gonzales Bashed, Later Praised By The Same Person. "fyi, malapit na matapos ang career ni @iamsuperbianca with the video we are soon to upload."-this was a post made by a certain @Kristina_PJ against TV host Bianca Gonzales.
It seemed like @Kristina_PJ, who claimed to have attended the same school as Bianca, was holding a grudge against the TV host as far back as high school.
Bianca kept her cool throughout the ordeal and her followers tried talking sense into @Kristina_PJ to stop wreaking havoc on Twitter.
The issue ended well for everyone involved and the hater turned into an admirer.

Georgina Wilson Bashed Paris Hilton in Twitter, Paris Fans Bash Back. Paris Hilton arrived in Manila in August, and the talk went around that she was going on a courtesy call to President Noynoy Aquino in Malacañang Palace.
Model and socialite Georgina Wilson clearly did not approve of this, and proceeded to share her thoughts on Twitter.
"why is PNOY taking time out of his "busy" schedule to meet with Paris Hilton tomorrow. So shameful that he doesn't have better things to do."
Georgina's supposedly innocent tweet elicited negative feedback from the local Twitter community, with some saying that Paris was way better than Georgina, and other such negative comments.
Like Bianca Gonzales, Georgina kept her cool and even greeted everyone a good morning. "morning everyone! :) glad my tweet yesterday evoked such strong feelings, both positive and negative. means we have opinions and we care :)"
Oh, and the courtesy call? There was no such thing, according to Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte.
