In her now-defunct television series Claudine in GMA-7, Claudine Barretto displayed her mettle as an actress.
But outside the series, she displays her mettle as a fashionista.
She is good at making use of stunning pieces in her wardrobe to add the required showbiz glitz and glam to her clothes.
During her August 4 press conference for the movie In Your Eyes, Claudine glammed up her purple dress with a Hermès Kelly bag made of beautiful green leather and gold-tone hardware.
When PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked how she got her lovely bag, the actress said it was a gift to her from a ninang. She also mentioned that aside from this green one, she has another Hermès bag at home, also a gift from the same ninang.
Kelly bags were made available to the public back in the 1930s. But the designer bag became famous in 1956, when movie star Grace Kelly, then Princess of Monaco, used it to prevent photographers from taking photos of her tummy when she was pregnant.
Other Filipina celebrities who own similar treasures are Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, Heart Evangelista, and Gretchen Barretto, Claudine's sister.
"RACE CAR DRIVER'S WATCH." Another noticeable accessory on Claudine that day was her silver Daytona Rolex watch.
Claudine narrated that when she arrived in the Philippines from a commercial shoot in Thailand early this year, she was very tired and was suffering from a stiff neck.
When she arrived at the airport, her husband Raymart Santiago surprised her with this Daytona Rolex watch. There was no special occasion at the time.
The watch is called the Race Car Driver's watch. It was designed to answer the needs of professional race-car drivers since it can measure elapsed circuit time and calculate average speed.
Claudine says that a lot of her guy friends often wonder why she wears such a rugged-looking watch.
"Tinatanong nga ako nung mga boys, 'Bakit ka may ganyan? Saan mo kinuha iyan?' Akala nila relo ito ng asawa ko pero akin talaga."
