Over the years, Roxanne Guinoo has proven that she is more than just one of showbiz's most pretty faces by starring in various TV and movie projects. In Natutulog Ba ang Diyos and Palos, she has shown her versatility and her bankability as a showbiz personality.
Now, Roxanne takes on her most challenging role to date as Leya Alegro, the lead character in ABS-CBN's upcoming soap opera Ligaw. This daytime teleserye about the world of horses will air its pilot episode on May 26 (Monday) after Wowowee.
Roxanne, who was discovered via the talent show Star Circle Quest, has successfully evolved into a credible actress over the years. This made her clinch the plum role of Leya.
Ligaw revolves around the story of Leya, a woman desperately trying to put the pieces of her sad, complicated life together. Will she succeed or will she just open more wounds of the past?
"Ligaw is about one beautiful girl's [Leya] desire to complete herself by finding her own family, true love," says Enrico Santos, business unit head. "You will see a more daring Roxanne in Ligaw."
Roxanne will be joined by her leading men Sid Lucero (playing childhood sweetheart Billy) and VJ and Kjwan vocalist Marc Abaya (playing Francis).
This daytime teleserye will replace Prinsesa ng Banyera, which airs its final episode on May 23.
Ligaw also stars Ara Mina, Isko Moreno, Noni Buencamino, Jodi Sta. Maria, Dominic Ochoa, Chockoleit, Arlene Muhlach, Smokey Manaloto, Coco Martin, Joem Bascon, Erich Gonzales, Matteo Guidicelli, Carla Humphries, Jaymee Joaquin, among others. It is directed by Andoy Ranay.
