Matinee idol Sam Milby will be trading his good-boy image
for a much darker persona when he stars in his first indie film titled Cul
de Sac (Dead-end). He will be joined by Chin-Chin Gutierrez and Jodi
Sta. Maria in this suspense-thriller about people working in the call center
industry.
Written and directed by Juan Miguel Sevilla, Cul de Sac will
have its premiere on November 15 and the regular run will take place in all SM
cinemas starting November 19.
"My character is a bad boy talaga," says Sam with his
characteristic American accent during his Rockoustic press conference
held at ABS-CBN last October 7. "He did some things in his past and he wants to
redeem himself."
When
Sam's character becomes a witness to a murder, he is thrown into an obsessive
urge to solve it. His life becomes even more complicated when a menacing tall
man stalks his every move and he encounters a mysterious lounge singer (played
by Chin-Chin) who might be able to provide answers to his questions.
As
he gets closer and closer to the truth, however, he finds himself right back
where he started: the past he so desperately wants to escape.
Viewers
are given fair warning: "what you see is not always what you get."
Now that the film is finished, Sam has time to rehearse for his upcoming major
solo concert slated for October 25 at the Aliw Theater. Titled Sam Milby:
The Rockoustic Heartthrob, his guests include Journey vocalist Arnel
Pineda, Yeng Constantino, Anne Curtis, Pokwang, and other surprise guests.
Sam will be leaving the country on October 28 for a six-city European tour of
the concert Heartthrobs. He will be performing abroad with Piolo Pascual
and Pokwang in countries such as Switzerland, United Kingdom, and Italy. He
will be back in the country by November 11 in time for the November 15 premiere
of his first indie film. Cul de Sac is also slated to have premieres in Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao.
