They can be mistaken for an all-male group from Korea because of their hairstyle and over-all looks. But the boy band Voyz Avenue is definitely all-Filipino.
At present, may regular show ang Voyz Avenue sa programang Lokomoko ng TV5. Last Thursday, November 5, nagkaroon ng formal launch ang grupo sa pamamagitan ng isang concert sa Metro Bar in West Avenue. Dito ay pinakita ng limang miyembro ng Voyz Avenue how they can perform as a group and even as individual singers.
Four of the members of Voyz Avenue were finalists from singing search in television such as Search for a Star in a Million and Pinoy Pop Superstar.
Sina Jimson Zamora (JZ), Raphael Calicdan (Raffy) and Richard Benjamin Agustin (RB) are all finalists from Pinoy Pop Superstar while Gerald Cando Yranon (Gerald) is from Search for a Star in a Million. Bukod tanging si Mark Russel Galang (Ice) ang nag-audition with the intention of being part of the group.
The group has an album, which has already been released last year. Called Voyz Avenue, ang carrier single ng album na ito ay "Nandito Lang Ako" at sinasabing madalas patugtugin sa mga radio station.
Self-produced ang kanilang album under A.M.E.M. which stands for Avenues Music Events & Management at released naman ng Viva Records.
Ayon kay RB, "Actually po, we're in the business for five years na rin po, pero, during those years, ito po 'yung years that we were honing our craft. Pero nakapag-front act na po kami sa Pinoy Idol, sa mga iba't-ibang shows and events."
According to them, they are influenced by the music of boy bands such as 'N Sync, West Life, Boyz II Men, among others. And last 2007, The Voyz Avenue was awarded Outstanding All Male Performing Group held at the AFP Theater.
