GMA-7's primetime line-up is earning stronger ratings. This according to the latest ratings data from AGB Nielsen Philippines from Mega Manila households for June 14 to 20, 2014.
When ABS-CBN's top-rater The Legal Wife left the air, it's constant runner-up Ikaw Lamang was poised to take its spot.
On this given period, however, Ikaw Lamang faced serious competition from shows from the Kapuso Network.
Ikaw Lamang placed first on June 16 and 20. From June 17 to 19, GMA-7's hit Korean series My Love from the Star took that distinction.
My Love from the Star's ratings win is more impressive when we consider that it is aired on early primetime. The exploits of the Korean comedy-drama's lead stars Matteo Do and Steffi Cheon are such a hit among televiewers that it outperforms all the shows on a few days.
My Love from the Star is not the only show that Ikaw Lamang should be worried about, because other Kapuso shows are occassionally getting better ratings.
Primetime newscast 24 Oras got higher ratings than Ikaw Lamang on June 18 and 19. There are also a few days when Niño is getting better ratings than Ikaw Lamang, or its airtime rival Dyesebel.
And late primetime Korean drama The Master's Sun may not be doing better than Ikaw Lamang, but it always beats its airtime rivals Aquino & Abunda Tonight and Pinoy Big Brother All In.
Not all GMA-7 shows are doing well, though. The adultery-themed drama Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real may have improved its ratings from the previous week, but it still lost to Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.
Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon, which stars Bea Alonzo and Paulo Avelino, is ABS-CBN's replacement for The Legal Wife.
And while we are on the topic of shows that ended, we can highlight GMA-7's afternoon drama series Innamorata, which ended on June 20. It consistently got better ratings against ABS-CBN's Pinoy Big Brother All In Uber.
Innamorata was topbilled by Max Collins, Dion Ignacio and Luis Alandy. Last June 20, Innamorata was able to register 15.3%, allowing it to become the third most-watched daytime show that day.
Here is the comparative rating performance of GMA-7, ABS-CBN and TV5 programs from June 14-20, derived from AGB Nielsen Philippines from Mega Manila households:
