Brillante Mendoza feels ecstatic that his films are earning the nods of jurors here and abroad. This year, Lola and Kinatay are said to be the top contenders in the upcoming Gawad Urian.
"I'm done na with my AmBisyon 2010 [short] film.
"Gusto kong tapusin this year ang mga documentary. Iba pa rin yung tungkol sa Ilog Pasig, also with Gina Lopez," sabi pa ni Direk Dante. "I'm also meeting with some organizations which have projects dealing with climate change and advocacy projects about the environment."
From there, pupunta ako ng Fribourg [Switzerland] to attend Lola's screening on March 15. Lola is the first Pinoy film to have theatrical release in Switzerland.
"On March 20, I will fly to Hong Kong to attend the Asian Film Awards, where Lola is nominated for [the categories] Best Film, Best Direction, and Best Editing.
"On March 26, [I] will again go back to Hong Kong, for the Hong Kong International Film Fest as jury member."
33rd GAWAD URIAN NOMINATIONS.
Nagtamo ang dalawa ng award as Best Film at Best Direction, among other major and technical awards.
This year ay nasa bansa si Brillante in time for the Gawad Urian rites na gaganapin sa April 29, 2010, sa Cine Adarna ng UP Film Institute (UPFI).
Masaya rin si Brillante Mendoza para sa iba pa niyang kasamahang na-nominate din this year sa iba't ibang kategorya sa Gawad Urian 2010.
