Lance Raymundo internalizes role as Emilio Aguinaldo in Cinemalaya 2010 entry

Lance Raymundo fulfilled his dream of portraying a historical figure when he was cast as Emilio Aguinaldo in the Mario O'Hara film Ang Paglilitis Ni Andres Bonifacio. This epic film is one of the five entries competing in the Directors' Showcase category of Cinemalaya.
"Siguro 'yung kuwentuhan namin already served as an audition," ani Lance.
And 'yun nga ang nai-offer. And I really did everything... nag-research ako, lahat!
"Before I met with Direk, I really prepared myself emotionally, lahat-lahat na.
"Sabi ko, 'my God! "I'm happy. I believe this is a big break for me, as an actor."
THE PRESIDENT AS HUMAN BEING.
"Except for the fact na pangalan niya [Andres Bonifacio] 'yung title, more or less, balanse naman," wika pa ni Lance.
"Yeah, kasi Bonifacio and Aguinaldo were good friends," pagtukoy pa ni Lance.
But at the same time, being the President of the Republic of the Philippines, its his duty na talagang ibigay 'yung sentensiya, kahit na talagang labag sa kalooban niya.
"Actually, 'yung pinaka-mahirap is more of an emotional scene, between him [Aguinaldo] and God. Ipinakita 'yung sensitive and human side ng isang tao na sa paningin ng lahat ay very strong and very powerful. Du'n ipinakita 'yung pagka-human being niya. So, that was the most difficult scene.
And then, pagka-pan back sa kanya, as in, 'yung communication is just with the eyes. Without words."
PRAYING TO AGUINALDO.
"I prayed to God and at the same time, I implored the presence of Aguinaldo talaga!" sabi niyang nangingiti. "Sabi ko kay God, 'If you are able to allow me to contact Aguinaldo... Mr. President, para sa inyo ito, please, i-guide po ninyo ako to portray you...'
"I prayed to him, kasi I know naman, somehow, God will allow us na makapag-communicate for projects as big as this. And projects like this that can serve as landmark [film] din, for the Filipinos, di ba?
"So, ipinagdasal ko talaga. I tried to communicate to Aguinaldo himself," natatawang wika pa ni Lance. "I think it helped. Kasi, so far, sa eksena namin, 'yung pinakamarami is take two. We were able to get it right away, e."
MUSIC CAREER ON HOLD.
"Yeah," pag-sang-ayon niya. "As much as I love mainstream, I have the same love and respect and admiration for the indie sectoral entertainment."
Kumusta naman ang singing career ni Lance? "My singing career is in indefinite hold," sabi niya. "Actually, pinasuk ko 'yung singing, maybe as a means of eventually becoming an actor din, e. And, siyempre, inidolo ko siya, so ginawa kong parang stepping stone 'yung singing.
"Pero... well, I'm given the talent and the gift din, e," ani Lance sa pagiging singer niya. I still have plans of releasing an album. Pero gusto kong i-solidify muna 'yung task ko, bilang artista, because I'm still growing, e.
"I know I'm not yet there. But I'm slowly getting there, 'di ba? Small steps.
