Ai-Ai delas Alas and Joseph Estrada (top frame) form one of the couples in Ang Tanging Pamilya: A Marry-Go-Around. The other couple, played by Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby, are experiencing problems because of Marlene (Mommy Dionisia, wearing yellow). Can they resolve their conflicts in time for their scheduled wedding?
Described as a "marry-go-around," Ang Tanging Pamilya is the story of two pairs of lovers: Ai-Ai de las Alas and Joseph "Erap" Estrada as well as Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby.
The younger couple want to get married after a two-year long distance relationship, coinciding with the wedding that Erap's character promised to Ai-Ai for their 25th anniversary. But there are hitches that derail the two weddings, leaving everybody wondering if there will be a happy ending for the chaotic families.
Adding complications to the wedding preparations is the presence of Marlene (Mommy Dionisia), the mother of Sam Milby's character, who insists on doing things her way.
Will there be a double wedding or none at all? Find out when Ang Tanging Pamilya opens in cinemas nationwide starting November 11, 2009.
This movie marks the return of Erap to the big screen after two decades. He was paired with Nikki Coseteng in the 1989 film Sa Kuko ng Agila. During the press conference of this Star Cinema film held yesterday, November 6, Erap was asked to describe his new leading lady, Ai-Ai.
"Iba naman talaga. Si Ai-Ai ay napakagaling," says the actor-turned-politician. He was then asked if he considers Ai-Ai to be a beautiful woman. "Erap paused before saying, "Okay naman...Maganda at mabango.
During the presscon, Erap confirmed that he himself requested that Mommy Dionisia, the mother of Manny Pacquiao, be included in the cast of this film.
Ai-Ai also described how her kissing scene with Erap took place.
In fairness, malambot ang lips mo," said the comedienne.
FIRST DAY TRIPPING. Ai-Ai recalled how straightforward Erap can be when he's on the set of Ang Tanging Pamilya. "Nung first day namin, nakasuot ako ng plunging [top].
While shooting their film, Ai-Ai took the opportunity to ask Erap regarding the wristband that his become his trademark.
Candy Pangilinan also had an unforgettable experience when she met Erap for the first time.
BEAUTY QUEEN-TURNED-DIRECTOR. Direk Wenn expressed his gratitude to Erap for allowing him to be part of this movie.
"Nung inalok sa akin, may halong takot," he admits.
He also described his experience while working with a first-time actress, Aling Dionisia.
Kahit anong ipagawa mo, wala siyang reklamo. Kahit 2 am, nili-lift-lift po siya ng mga dancers."
For his part, Erap was amazed by the technology that he saw while shooting Ang Tanging Pamilya.
Minsan tatanungin ko siya and he's willing to explain every scene na gusto kong tanungin.
The former President of the Philippines also praised Direk Wenn by saying, "I would say that he's one director who's really a professional."
MILESTONE FOR TONI GONZAGA. This movie marks the first time that Toni Gonzaga agreed to do a kissing scene. She says that she's not used to doing kissing scenes so she and Sam Milby had to reshoot their scene. "Na take two kami at nareshoot. So nag-reshoot kami for that kissing scene.
