Mae Cruz (middle) will direct the Star Cinema-Viva Films movie Babe, I Love You, which is topbilled by Anne Curtis and Sam Milby. It will open in Philippine cinemas starting April 3, 2010.
Ever since ay Star Cinema baby na raw si Mae Cruz, ang direktor ng bagong movie ng Star Cinema, ang Babe, I Love You. Kuwento ng lady director, nagsimula siya bilang production assistant noon sa Magic Temple hanggang maging assistant director, back-up director until she started directing some ABS-CBN shows especially like Maging Sino Ka Man.
Sa larangan ng pelikula, ang Bcoz of U ang unang ginawa ni Mae, but she shared the directorial job with Cathy Garcia-Molina and John-D Lazatin. Kaya ang Babe, I Love You, the movie co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, ang first full-length directorial job niya. Ito ang unang pagtatambal nina Anne Curtis at Sam Milby sa pelikula.
Para kay Mae, malaking bagay raw na ang stars ng first full-length film niya ay sina Anne at Sam.
"Kasi po sa Maging Sino Ka Man, I've worked closely with them, sa Book 1 at sa Book 2. We established a relationship. At dito sa pelikula, ang dalawang bida ko, dalawang kaibigan na napakapropesyunal at napakabait. So, I'm really, really lucky to have them to be the stars of my first film."
"Well, first of all, I'm very grateful to Star Cinema for giving me this opportunity. Na makagawa ng full length film. Yung first full-length film ko. Yung pressure is great but it's not so much na yun ang top of my mind ko because as I've waited for so long for my first full length, parang nandun lang yung fire and you're just so excited to do it.
"I'm just very grateful that my friends, sina Cathy Molina, she's a good friend of mine. And my other friends in the industry are very, very supportive. Directors and production side, we all support each other so in this, parang I have them as my support group.
"And the advice that I got from my mentors and my colleagues is just to have fun. And having Anne and Sam with me in this film, I guess, it shows du'n sa mga scenes namin that we we're having fun kahit na nag-aaway sila. We we're having fun. The pressure of delivering. It would be a pressure if I put that in mind."
Dugtong pa niya, "Parang, first just do your best and I've done my best and I just had fun. The result, you know, I leave all up to God and it's really up to the people to see kunwari if that's my best and their best too. All I can say is that, I had fun doing this film, yun lang po."
Ano nga ba ang pakiramdam niya while working on her first film?
"Very excited and very nervous at the same time. I know the expectation of the people and management but I'm excited to you know...really excited to do this, finally do this. As far as preparation is concerned, preparation for the film for the two, I really sat down with the two on you know, how to go out with the film, character wise. Personal state nila, we settle things. We did a lot of research.
"Anne also did a lot of research with me that's why and Sam too. So, talagang prayers to death, yun po."
SYNOPSIS. Niccolo "Nico" Veneracion (Sam Milby) is a History of Architecture professor who is on his way to becoming the next vice dean of the department. He knows that achieving it would finally make his mother proud of him and forgive him for indirectly causing his father's death.
But when he meets an uncoventional girl named Sandra "Sasa" Sanchez, his world is turned upside down. He never thought that he could fall in love with someone who works as a promo girl and is obviously unacceptable in his life.
Will their match work? Will everything that Nico has rebuilt since the tragedy be threatened by Sasa's entry into his life? Will they be able to find a common ground for their love to prosper?
Babe I Love You dares to ask the question: Can love bring two opposite worlds together? How much can you give up for the one you love?
Aside from Sam and Anne, this movie also stars Nikki Valdez, Guji Lorenzana, Tetchie Agbayani, AJ Perez, Megan Young, Thou Reyes, Kiktat, Nikki Bacolod, CJ Caravata, Angel Sy, Cheska Ortega, Nina Dolino, Justin Gonzales, Joem Bascon, Nicole Uysiuseng, Leo Rialp, Roden Araneta and Laurice Guillen.
Star Cinema and Viva Films' latest offering will try to give moviegoers the answers when it opens in Philippine cinemas starting April 3, 2010.
