Sa 'Yo Lamang, the 17th anniversary presentation of Star Cinema, stars (front row, from left) Miles Ocampo, Bea Alonzo, Lorna Tolentino, Christopher de Leon, (back row, from left) Lauren Young, Enchong Dee, Diether Ocampo, Zanjoe Marudo, Coco Martin, Shaina Magdayao, and Empress.
As its 17th anniversary offering, Star Cinema brings to the big screen a powerhouse family drama on September 1.
After making history in 2000 via the movie Tanging Yaman, Star Cinema now rekindles the spirit of the Filipino family with another grand movie project topbilled by Lorna Tolentino and Christopher de Leon, Diether Ocampo, Coco Martin, Zanjoe Marudo, Shaina Magdayao, Enchong Dee, Empress, Miles Ocampo, Lauren Young and Bea Alonzo.
Under the direction of Laurice Guillen, Sa'yo Lamang zeroes in on the life of the Filipino family, laden with issues and hardships, testing their strength and togetherness in their most trying times.
At the press conference held last August 19 at the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN, some of the cast members who came to meet the press—Miles, Lauren, Coco, Zanjoe, Diether, Bea, Christopher and Lorna—share their thoughts on why their family is very important to them.
For lead actor Christopher de Leon, his family is what drives him. "They are the reason why I'm working hard. They are my inspiration. They are, what I would say, something to live for. Kung wala ang pamilya ko, siguro, I'll be a goner. Wala. Walang direksyon ang buhay ko, like before."
Asked if they are willing to sacrifice for their family, the cast members all answered they will selflessly give everything for their loved ones.
"Hindi naman ako nandito ngayon kung hindi dahil sa kanila," acknowledges Loren. "So, kung kinakailangan kong i-sacrifice ng sarili ko, gagawin ko."
Coco has the same comment on how he will do anything and give everything for his family. "Kahit buhay ko pa, ibibigay ko, para sa pamilya ko."
Zanjoe says he's willing to work hard and give his all for his family. "Hangga't kaya ko pa at hangga't kailangan, para sa pamilya, basta tama, gagawin ko ang lahat-lahat."
Christopher and Bea both says they are willing to give up their own personal happiness for their respective families.
"Gaano kalaki man yun, kung kinakailangan, gagawin ko. Kaya kong isakripisyo ang sarili kong kaligayahan para sa pamilya ko," says Bea.
"They are my everything. I'm willing to do anything for my family. They are what motivates me," Diet shares.
While Sa'yo Lamang is about a family undergoing a difficult and trying time, Lorna says this movie is also about the faith one has in trusting everything to God in times of crisis.
"After all, sa huli wala ka naman talagang ibang makakapitan at makapagbibigay sa iyo ng lakas kundi Siya lang. Wala kang ibang mahahawakan, kundi ang Panginoon lang," shares Lorna.
Star Cinema promises Sa'yo Lamang is a heartwarming story that will bring viewers to the brink of tears and feelings of hope. It will premiere on September 1 in over 100 theaters nationwide.
