34th Gawad Urian nominees revealed

Aside from Perry Dizon, the other nominees for Best Actor in the 34th Gawad Urian include (from upper left, clockwise) John Arcilla, Ronnie Lazaro, Sid Lucero, Coco Martin, Pen Medina, Sam Milby, Fanny Serrano and Joel Torre.

Nine films are vying for the Best Picture award in the 34th Gawad Urian. This year's nominees depict a wide range of stories that date back to the Filipino-American War during the 1900s and tackle the modern-day period as well.

The films competing for the honor of being called the Best Picture of 2010 include Amigo (starring Joel Torre), Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria (starring Donna Gimeno), Ang Mundo sa Panahon ng Yelo (starring Elijah Castillo and Edwin Pamanian), Chassis (starring Jodi Sta. Maria), Halaw (starring John Arcilla and Maria Isabel Lopez), Limbunan (starring Joem Bascon and Tetchie Agbayani), Noy (starring Coco Martin), Sheika (starring Fe GingGing Hyde) and Tsardyer (starring Dimples Romana and Mon Confiado).

The members of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) primarily chose independently produced films to compete in this year's edition. Most of the entries previously competed in film festivals in the country, namely Cinemalaya and Cinema One.

The MPP is composed of Dr. Roland Tolentino, Dr. Gigi Alfonso, Mario Hernando, National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera, Dr. Miguel Rapatan, Benilda Santos, Dr. Nicanor Tiongson, Tito Valiente, Lito Zulueta and Butch Francisco.

The awards night of the 34th Gawad Urian is scheduled to take place on May 17, 2011. It is presented by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and Cinema One.

to einstae talagang wala kang kilala sa ABS? baka kc puro mga mukang urangutang artista ng gmeww lng ang kinikilala mo. saka Baka naman gmewww lng ang channel ng tv mo! LOL gus2 mo ipag worshop at 2ruan pa ni santino, bendita at mutya umarte yang mga leading man at leading lady nyo na mga mukang mga 2od at estatwa umarte! hehehe

curious lang ako. graded A ang emir and rosario..and a lot of people and critics say na francheska and jenn would grab a best actress trophy pero ni nominations wala sila graded A ha..graded A ha. ganun pala un. hehe

napanood ng asawa kong poringer tong noy,kahit nakakainis kc kilangan kong itranslate sa kanya cge na lang ksi nagkainteres,interesting daw,nagandahan sya,pero vote ako for ronnie lazaro fav actor ko sya,nakakatakot minsan,hehe

comment number 2.. exactly...ganun talaga ang mga fans ng kapuso, puro hangin at kasinungalingan ang nasa utak... puro ratings lang at papuri sa shows ng fav. network nila..,d marunong kumilatis ng quality shows.. well sabagay...hanggang TV shows lang sila...in terms of movies...hehe...wala ng masabi...bilang lang kasi ang box office movie hits nila...at wala ni isa sa mga big stars nila ang nanonominate sa mga ganitong award giving bodies

Asan na kaya ang mga kapuso na sina macku, betterme, kapusotayo at kiyemestrykc? Sila ang mga nag-comment na basura at boring ang NOY, without the benefit of watching it first. Si macku,nagbigay ng judgement even before the first day of showing ng NOY. Si betterme naman, nagsinungaling at nagpanggap na napanood nya ang NOY. Pero his comment about the movie obviously reveals na hindi nya pa napanood ang movie. Yan ang problema sa marami dito, nagbibigay ng negative comment sa mga movies na hindi pa nila napanood. Its all because kapamilya ang involve sa movie.
