The Concert King and Queen will warm hearts anew during the
month of love. Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez will serenade lovers once
again as they topbill the pre-Valentine show dubbed as Missing You. The
formidable twosome will perform at the Araneta Coliseum on February 6, 2009.
It will be recalled that the former husband-and-wife tandem used to fire up the
stage with their passion for performing but marital problems forced the two
singers to go their separate ways. However, all of that is water under the bridge since they have decided to rekindle their romance again—at least on stage.
During the January 11 episode of The Buzz, Pops
answered the Tough Ten Questions posed by host Ruffa Gutierrez.
Ruffa: Tough Ten Question No. 10: Paano ka na-convince na gawin ang
reunion concert ninyo ni Martin?
Pops: Hindi naman kailangang i-convince pa. Last year, pinag-usapan na
namin then during the middle of the year, nag summer vacation si Ram [one of
their sons] with him and I became emotional. Then he texted me, ‘Gusto mo ba
gumawa ng concert together? What do you think?' I told him, ‘If you're not
serious then don't ask.'"
The Concert Queen then revealed that they had planned to do a reunion concert
several times in the past but this is the only time that it finally pushed
through. Jomari Yllana, a self-confessed fan of the Pops-Martin team-up, was instrumental in making this a reality.
Produced by Fearless Productions, Missing You will mark
the return of the Pops-Martin tandem after six long years.
