The Pop Girls release 13-track debut album

More than fifty auditioned but only five lucky girls passed the rigid screening for the singing group POP Girls. The singing group formed by Viva has already released their 13-track album.

All-girl singing groups are all the rage in Asia and other parts of the world these days. This is evident based on the popularity of two of South Korea's young female groups 2NE1 featuring Dara Park who was once a sought-after Philippine teen star known as Sandara Park and The Wonder Girls whose dance tune "Nobody" is the first song by a Korean artist to make it to the Billboard Hot 100 list.

In an effort to introduce new blood to the music scene, Viva Entertainment top honcho Vic del Rosario lost no time in forming a local girl group composed of five charming, pretty and exceptionally gifted girls. The result is an all-girl group called the POP Girls. It is composed of 16-year-old half-Lebanese twins Lailah and Mariam Bustria, 13-year-old Dutch mestiza RoseVan Ginkel, the 14-year-old half-Pinay, half Swiss Schai Sigrist, and the 15-year-old Nadine Lustre, who is the only pure Pinay of the quintet.

Schai and Rose have appeared in the GMA-7 show Master Showman. Nadine has appeared as a double for teen actres Kim Chiu for a TV commercial. Meanwhile, Lailah and Mariam have already appeared in movies such as Caregiver and First Day High and TV shows such as Lovers in Paris.

The teenage group is composed of five girls who were able to pass the auditions.

Boss Vic del Rosario even tapped the services and expertise of renowned international producers Christian de Walden and Marcus Davis and seasoned local producer Civ Fontanilla to create the POP Girls' debut album. Released under the P-Pop (Pinoy-Pop) record label, this is a light, infectious confection that is as refreshing and irresistible as the group's five girl members.

The POP Girls' 13-track album contains songs that celebrate the different facets and phases of that most exhilarating season in a person's life: youth. The upbeat "Crazy Crazy" by Marcus and Amber Davis and "Crushy" written by top choreographer Geleen Eugenio have all the makings of an instant hit while the covers of OPM classics like Regine Velasquez's "Urong Sulong" and Donna Cruz's "Kapag Tumibok ang Puso" are a joy to sing along with.
