Sharon Cuneta's new talk show on TV5, Sharon: Kasama Mo, Kapatid, is a mix of old and the new. While there is not much change in format from the Megastar's previous talk shows, new elements are added to spice up the show.

For one, Sharon is now interviewing normal everyday people, aside from celebrities. In the pilot episode yesterday, May 14, the actress-TV host talked to a battered woman, and a single mom.

This is good because Sharon's show now takes the form of a public affairs program, in a talk show format. Interviewing non-celebrities is a plus for the show because it lets viewers relate faster to the guests than if the guest was a celebrity.

A public affairs format is also quite fitting to Sharon, since she not only moves in showbiz circles, but also in political circles, with husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan, and uncle Senator Tito Sotto.

Aside from this, the show also takes efforts to embrace new trends in media. Links to the show's Facebook and Twitter, for instance, are promoted in the show's title card.

More viewer interaction is also introduced. Yesterday, May 14, select members of the audience were given a chance to ask questions to celebrity guest Judy Ann Santos.

Sharon was also pleasantly surprised by the visit of her husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan who brought along their kids Frankie and Miel as well as their adopted son Miguel.

Not much can be said on Sharon Cuneta's hosting skills, as she has already perfected this talent. She can use her charming personality to relate to the guests, and intellect to ask the best questions.

The only con to the show is its timeslot, as viewers are more accustomed to watching soap operas in the afternoon. Perhaps a better timeslot, like one in the morning, will be a better fit.
