“Stressful pero fun.”
This is how Sarah Geronimo described her experience during the blind auditions for The Voice of the Philippines Kids Edition held recently.
Sarah is one of the three coaches tasked to mentor the children who will pass in the auditions of ABS-CBN's singing talent show.
The other two coaches are Lea Salonga and Bamboo Mañalac.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and ABS-CBN News, Sarah related how she felt during the auditions.
“Amazing kasi bilang kids ‘yon kasi ilang kids 'yung napakinggan kong kumanta, napakagaling ng mga kids from eight years old to 14 years old,” she said with a smile.
But the Popstar Princess said it was not fun all the time because, “May mga na-encounter kaming mga kids na naiiyak.
“Talagang kailangan ng magandang way ng pagsabi sa kanila na, ‘Maybe this is not your time yet. Konting hinog pa. Practice pa nang practice.’”
Like in the regular season of The Voice, Sarah said televiewers would also see the “healthy competition” among the coaches to convince the contestants to join their team.
“That’s what the show is all about talaga,” she added.
“Kasi competition din ito ng mga coaches talaga ito, e.
“So, talagang bawat team, you represent it.
“Healthy competition naman ’yon.”
What does Sarah do to get the contestant that she wants?
“Dinadaan ko na lang sa charm-charm, kung ano man ‘yong personality ko,” she said with a laugh.
There were times, she said, “Ginagamit ko na lang minsan si Laida [her character in her three movies with John Lloyd Cruz], ‘yong pangkulit sa mga bata.
“Kailangan kasi to persuade them para makuha mo sila sa team mo, kailangan mo talaga silang aliwin, e.”
