Maja Salvador: "Ayokong maging kabit."

"Ayokong maging kabit," declares Maja Salvador.

After experiencing the stigma of being a mistress on the small screen, Maja says she would not want to undergo the same problems being faced by her character in The Legal Wife.

In this ABS-CBN primetime series, Maja plays Nicole, the best friend of Angel Locsin's character. Nicole spends a lot of time working with Adrian (played by Jericho Rosales) until the two have an extramarital affair.

To help prepare for her role as Nicole, Maja reveals that she read the book How To Be A Good Mistress.

She recalls: "Ang sabi dun, kung kabit ka, huwag mong gagawin yung mga ginagawa ng asawa. Kasi minsan ka lang daw bibigyan ng oras ng minamahal mo.

"So, dapat 'pag nagkita kayo, parang laging may okasyon. Lagi kang ready, lagi kang maganda, bawal magmukhang losyang."

Isn't she afraid that accepting the role of a mistress would negatively affect her image?

She admits, "Siyempre, iisipin mo rin ang image mo. Pero ngayon kasi, hindi na importante kung sweet image ka ba as long as mapakita mo sa kanila na itong role na ito, kakayanin kong gampanan.

"Magpapakita ako ng isang magandang character. Alam ko makakakita kayo ng lesson sa character na ito."


GERALD ANDERSON IRRITATED BY NICOLE? It seems that Maja is a bit too effective since even her boyfriend, Gerald Anderson, became affected by her portrayal of a mistress.

The characters of Nicole and Adrian have been having an illicit relationship for some time now but the confrontation between the three finally aired last April 23.

When Maja was asked to describe the reaction of Gerald after watching the April 23 episode, the actress recalls, "Sabi niya sa akin, 'Nakakainis yung character mo. Tumigil ka na!'"

When it comes to relationships, Maja goes on to say that she won't be able to stand it if she will be forced to "share" her beloved with someone else.

"Ang gusto ko mahalin ako. Ayoko ng may kahati ako," she emphasizes.

"Ayokong nawawala ang asawa ko. Ayoko yung konting oras lang ang binibigay niya sa akin."

"ROYAL RUMBLE." Maja says that it is very challenging depict the love triangle in The Legal Wife. "Yung tatlong main characters, ang hirap ng sitwasyon nila.

"Lahat sila nagmamahal pero iba't ibang levels ng pagmamahal."

Things become even more intense when the legal wife confronts the mistress during the April 28 episode of the Kapamilya primetime series.

Monica (Angel) furiously confronts Nicole (Maja) in her home and attacks her while Dante (Mark Gil) tries to stop their fight.

Monica hits Nicole's shoulder as she shouted, "Sumagot ka, malandi ka!"

Nicole calls her "Best," her term of endearment for her best friend but Monica asks her: "Masarap ba? Masarap ba ang asawa ko?"

Monica slaps her and Nicole simply stood there. The spurned wife asks the mistress: "Ano una mong tinanggal: 'yang bra mo, 'yang panty mo o yung konsiyensiya mo?"

Nicole tries to explain, "Hindi ko alam kung paano ko ipapaliwanag...Nagkasala ako, Monica...Nangyari ang nangyari dahil inggit na inggit ako sa iyo."

Monica suddenly grabs Nicole's hair but she is pulled back by Mark Gil's character and a maid. The furious wife also grabs her shoes and throws them at Nicole.
